Cool Re tuning to get rid of a parking lot stall issue

I recently put a BTR stage 3 cam in my car I have Bo Whites ported throttle body cold air intake Kooks long tubes with high-flow cats and this car did a 420 horsepower freak Baseline pull prior to the tune and the switch from shorties with highflows! after the camshaft it only mustered 464 at the rear wheels , it has a slow RPM at idle that sometimes has great lope, but other times it never goes to the sweet lope spot, it's like it gets dragged down at idle sometimes only.. any advice for the tech to help him get it right would be greatly appreciated as I am to be present apparently and don't want to offer bad advice.

Did you get it tuned right ? If not you will have to. I had no luck with a ported TB , it had serious idle issues with surging. I had to go back to stock TB.

Yes the tune camshaft and longtubes were all same time , didn't let them know intake was ported but figured it was in the mix and would be accounted for .. my mistake maybe

You answered your own question in your original post...

SLOW IDLE

At idle my car hovers just under 1k rpm.. I have the exact setup you described. If your rpm at idle is around 8 - 900 rpm... it will occasionally die with put under light loads, like in a parking lot. The slow idle gives it a nice lope... but will not keep it alive in every instance without giving it a little gas.

Assuming it is a M6 - If it is a auto, might be a converter issue.

FYI - that setup should make close to 500 horse at the wheel. Definitely something tuned incorrectly.

I bet it’s the ported throttle body on lightly modded engine. Idle should be ok at 800 rpms. It may need just a little more idle and for the HP you have is about right for Cai, headers, cam and tune. I’m not an expert but mine has been at that level before and a few friends had basically what you have in 460 rwhp to 470 rwhp.

I have nearly same set up. Mine also makes 464. My car will die if I slow down too fast at a stop light. It is automatic.

You guys need to go back to your tuners and have them check it out. Sometimes issues like that are hard to replicate so they might not have ran into the issue while tuning especially if they aren't street tuning it. With a cammed car we like to street tune the car first and try to get into parking lot situations were you're on the brake and gas a lot. On a aggressive cam with an automatic tuning isn't going to be easy. You might need the idle higher then you like and usually a bit more air at idle will help it keep from stalling.

^^^^ This. These cars that you guys are discussing in here all sound like they have tuning issues. My car has a pretty good sized camshaft (much bigger than a BTR Stg3 and a ported throttle body, idles at 800rpm hot, and I can pull it in and out of the garage without ever touching the throttle. The car hasn't stalled one time in 6,000 miles of driving since the cam swap. You guys have tuning issues - I'd be taking a good look at the Airflow Final Minimum table, idle spark (including the idle regions on all timing tables), and the Idle Adaptive Spark Control tables. Insufficient air and insufficient advance don't leave the PCM enough authority of idle and can cause some of these stalling coming to a stop and difficulty taking a load at idle conditions you guys are describing.

I haven't had mine long but Ryan at GPI did the tune and no issues like mentioned. Just a little higher idle than I'm use to but not by much

So far all good we raised RPM to 750 from 700, also did a data log session and changed a few other idle related situations, its also slower to drop its rpm noticeably from its prior point. no charge very happy!
