Rules for buffing car w/stripes

Hello,

When it gets closer to spring, I have a friend that has all the equipment to nicly clean and buff a car down. My only concern is with the factory stripes. What are the rules for this kind of thing? Can you just buff over them, or do you need to stay on the edge?

DO NOT BUFF THEM!! You should not even wax them. Only a Silicone based protector for vinyl should be used!

You need to simply apply a VERY LOW TACK painters tape on them to protect them and do around them!

AVOID getting any buffer anywhere close to the stripes.

I'd suggest polishing by hand the area along the stripes.

Simple. Don't buff the stripes.

I recommend waxing them. Do it by hand and go in the direction of the stripes. Use high quality stuff like Zaino or Adam's Polishes. I use the Buttery Wax from Adam's. It applies and removes easily. No white residue and it gives the stripes a deep black shine and offers a lot of protection from the elements. For more tips ask MOOSE, he's by far the most knowledgeable person on here. He will point you in the right direction.

I applied Zaino to mine by hand. A machine buffer would ruin them for sure!

Thanks for the info. The whole point of the buffing will be to get rid of any small scratches and such. So I want to get as close as possible. May try the tape thing.
