They can tell. Just find a dealer that is friendly to modifications. Some are simply better than others. Ask around town. Someone will tell you that they work on cars with some changes without any problems.

If you have a red car, it could be matched to the paint.

A lot of times the dealer will install the mods for you and will warranty the work in house, and not contact chevrolet about it. But it's been said before, you've gotta pay to play. Besides, headers and a good tune will not do any damage at all to the engine or drivetrain so unless something is already screwed up it won't create any additional problems. I waited about 1300miles before I had any work done to my car just to make sure I didn't have a lemon.

Sorry mikeSS... just having a little fun. I don't lend much creedence to the "Invisible tune", but I'm no expert either.... your dealer might work with you to keep you coming back to them instead of another dealer. Maybe you can talk to them about the possibility of you doing a tune in the future and see how they react. If it doesn't look good and you want to keep the warranty, you might have to return it to the stock tune before bringing it in to have some work done, then putting the aftermarket tune back in after the work is completed.

I understand this line of thinking because I've thought about it myself, but all this talk about "stealth" tunes or switching back to the stock tune to hide that you have a custom tune is pretty shady, at least to me. If your modifications caused something to break, you should pay to have it fixed. If your modifications were not the cause of the problem, then stick to your guns and demand it be fixed under warranty. Either way, if you're not willing to pay for repairs on the vehicle after something breaks because of your modifications, don't get them.

Now, that being said, if you find a cool dealer that will hook you up, that's cool. I told mine what I was thinking of doing to the car and that it would fry the warranty. He just shook his head and said, "Don't worry about it, just let me know if something goes wrong and I'll take care of you."

All I know is there IS indeed a way to revert back to factory settings and hide signal of any previous flashes.. but good luck finding it out. My bet is, you never will.

With all the reading I've done, it seems that if you went with something like a Diablo and use the 93 Octane tune, you can reload the stock tune prior to having it serviced. This works with a fairly stock car, maybe catback exhaust. If you have more mods then they will see them anyway. Reading further in the forums, it seems there are ways for GM to know if you have flashed the ecm but some people believe the flash counter isn't currently used.
I use HP Tuners and can load the stock tune back in anytime, Now if I could just find a way to hide the supercharger sitting on top of the engine Maybe the ketchup ....
