wires/plugs
I was thinking of changing my spark plug wires and spark plugs to a better set, ACCEL. What your opinion in changing these, worth for the price?

Short answer is that thy will improve the looks but won't really show any performance gains. Unless yu running in the k's in HP you wont see any improvement. The heat shields on those might help with longevity though....

your spark plug wires are 3 inches long.... you aren't going to see any performance gains.
if you feel the need to waste money, get a cool looking set, like msd's or something

You wont see much gain from the wires. I have not measured the stock wire to see if there is a loss. But This is my 3rd Ls motor and I have always ditched the factory platinum plugs for NGK tr-55 copper plus. The dont last as long but I have found smoother idle and better excellaration with them gapped at .50. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the BS 10.00 plugs they are all hype. Tr-55 for NA cars and TR6 for forced induction cars as it is one step colder.

http://www.mcssl.com/store/cc-perfor...81a6a08596362b MSD and NGK are a great combination on these cars and have been for 10 years now Last edited by CC Performance; 01-13-2011 at 10:34 AM. |

Wires wont add performance unless you have a compromised wire to begin with.
What happens is sometimes the factory wires get stuck on and get damaged when pulling them off so a person needs a couple wires. Or they get headers and two of the boots are very close to the primary and it get dried out and cracked. The MSD have a multi-angle feature so you can manipulate them away from the header as well as a hi heat resistant silicone. |

FWIW, I had a set of MSD 8.5 spark plug wires #32819 and tried them on the Camaro L99. They fit, but are tight. Apparently, you need to order LS2 style wires (longer) rather than LS1/LS6 wires.

I have DT shoties and I put Accel wires on mine because I thought the stock wires were too close to the headers. Check it out here.
