Installed, they are infact D1S bulbs. They went in without a hitch.

For some reason I thought the bumper had to removed, but it doesn't. I was able to fit my hands back there and do it. If you choose not to take the bumper you will be doing it semi-blindly.

You have got to make the sure bulb is seated like it was when you took it out, if you dont the cutoff point in the projector gets skewed, I still have to fix that.

Sorry just took them out. They were too dim for night driving.

Ive had 8k before in other cars and they were fantastic, but for some reason putting them in the camaro has a really low visabillity.

Anyone have any suggestions here?

good question. i was considering 8000 or 6000k upgrade too. they have no reason to be dimmer....except maybe the ballast built into your new d1s bulb is a 35W and the stock ballast from the factory is a 55W??

Well see I thought the stock headlights had there own built in ballast. I was under the impression that for the D1S system we are just buying the bulb, base, and the built in Ignitor for the bulb.

I cant find 55W D1S bulbs, Im guess that because the ballast controls the wattage.

Could it be the brand of bulbs I got suck? I thought Hella was a good brand...

The stock bulbs are 35watts.

Does the D1S bulb you got from Hella have a rating in "Lumens"? Bulbs usually have a rating to tell how much total light they put out.

The black ring between the bulb and projector rotates counter-clockwise. It is pretty tight.

Thanks. I already solved it. 6k is installed now. I'm happy to have the yellowish xenon out yet.

I'm not sure if your aware but brand new HID bulbs need to be warmed up the first time their turned on. Did you leave them on for about 15 mins? If not that may be the reason they looked so dim, because they were not fully warmed. Just something else to check out.

Yeah, I gave them a burn in time. I've been using HID for 5-6 years now, and my prefrance has always been a 8K bulb, never once had a problem with light ouput untill now, which puzzles me. Never had a 8K bulb so dim.
