TPMS sensors

I have owned my current 2010 for about 10 years now give or take... I am the second owner... currently my TPMS sensors are on the fritz and showing so on the DIC. I feel they are the original sensors. Are there any differences in purchasing OE sensors to be installed at the dealer or even purchasing sensors through the tire shop I got got my tires installed at? Curious on everyone's input. Thanks.

Good to know. What would one expect to pay to replace all 4 sensors?

I agree good people work there. Mine has taken care of all 3 of my vehicles as well. I just haven't gotten the 10% discount at the shop other than the discounts through the forum unless that is what you are referring to? I will have to inquire about that.

Yeah, I have been buying my tires from them for the last 15 years, lot of money spent there, so they help me out. Plus the manager is a "car guy", he has a built Silverado..

Gave them a call earlier today and it looks like it runs for close to $65 per sensor. I'm looking at $260 minus the labor. I set up an appointment for Tuesday next week. I imagine it would be much cheaper than going through the dealer since my wheel balancing is included with the tires I purchased from Discount Tire.

Awesome! Yeah you can bet the dealership would be more! They charge by the hour, plus parts. And like I said, I don't remember what I paid, I do know that I did only have to pay for the sensors, and nothing else.

So... I have a 2010 2SS, and I'm still rather confused about getting TPMS' programmed. I bought a set of aftermarket ones online. I believe the 2010 models specifically used 315 mhz, whereas all the 2011-2015 models had an OEM revised TPMS, which used 314.9 mhz for their frequency? (someone correct me if I'm wrong) I can't recall what the frequency of the ones I bought, exactly were, but they should've been 315 mhz and looked exactly identical to the factory/OEM TPMS'.

I also saw the cheap universal "re-learn" or "re-program" tools on eBay and Amazon, which use like a single button to communicate, and is powered by a single 9V battery. I ended up not being able to use this, and also found that 2 of my OEM TPMS were dead, and they were all mismatched all around the car. By the time I got to my first re-learn process with the tool, on my car's current wheel/tire set, it was one of the rear wheels, so I just gave up.

Are the new TPMS' supposed to be programmed with a special programmer/tool? I figured this might be the case, and THEN I could eventually use my generic universal re-learn tool, in order to set the correct tire/wheel placement on my car? (someone also correct me on this, if I'm wrong) I'm not sure if I end up rotating my tires (am currently running a squared wheel and tire set), that the generic TPMS re-learn tool will work, in order to re-assign the rotated tires to their new positions.

Also, I've heard mixed experiences with some people saying that 5th gen Chevy Camaro TPMS' are the worst to program. Yet, there are some private, "mom and pop", hole in the wall tire shops, that will have programming tools, and even have the correct, working TPMS on hand (usually aftermarket).
