Never really noticed before - STRIPES - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Looking at all of the stripe pictures, I am confused. For only OEM (not AM paint) are there two different versions of the Center Rally Stripe (not the solid)? I see some that stop and the hood and others that continue to the front end a couple of inches (mine do this). Is that the difference between factory installed versus dealer intstalled?

OEM stripes will always stop at the edge of the hood. Dealer installed means they are put on after the car is delivered. This only happens now if you order the stripes after you receive your Camaro. Factory installed means they put them on before the car is shipped.

The longer stripes are after-market and can be installed by a dealer or a body shop. They are not made by GM though.

GM does NOT make stripes that extend pass the hood, either factory or dealer installed.

factory installed stripes and gm dealer installed stripes are not the same,, we have had several here and the are different width's

They are the same general length and design though. The stripes you order through GM only go to the edge of the hood. The stripes in the first photo are typically called "Bumblebee" stripes since they are similar to the stripes used on the 2010 Camaro from Transformers, named Bumblebee.

All GM stripes will look similar to this

Hmmmm? Then I have a serious problem, rare car or question for my dealer! I have a black 2ss that I watched come off the truck with factory CGM stripes. They go past the hood and look like the first pic. I took delivery 9-11. Are there any gm guys in the know here????

Look up your VIN on the Spasticsquirrel site and see if you car was indeed produced from the factory with the stripes. That's a good place to start. If it did, then you definitely have a rare car. My guess is that the dealer had these put on.

none of the gm stripes go past the hood. those have to be an aftermarket stripe kit
