i'm a senior in college at the University of New Mexico and this morning i went to class and my teacher didn't show up...

we didn't think much of it and after 15 minutes the class just left assuming that we'd see our teacher in class on wednesday and that something must have come up...

i mean, really, how often do you assume when your professor doesn't show up to class that he was murdered?

i heard on the news and some classmates emailed me a while ago confirming the tragic story and now i'm just wondering really like what is wrong with the world?

that's all...just an overall sad story that hits pretty close

by the way, he was the most down to earth professor i've ever had - a really nice guy

It's a sick sick world we live in today.. one just has to watch 10 minutes of every newscast and see that it is getting worse every day...

Lack of respect. Focus on ME and no one else matters. What can I GET out of the world? How do I GET MORE money from x, y & z? How do I GET ahead - ignoring the other person?

Those are just a few of the minor problems...

No respect, moral values and very little manners. As another poster said, it's the ME generation and people don't care who they hurt in the process of getting what they want.

I'm sorry to hear about your professor. Hope they catch whoever did it.

A lot of things, sadly. Because we are, after all...imperfect.

But I wouldn't say it's getting 'worse' by a long shot. It's just becoming more transparent as the media grows....news coverage is everywhere...and they hardly ever spend time on the good things that occur that day. An effect of competition in ratings, sadly.

Stay positive. What a tragedy...it seems even worse when it hits close to home. But don't let it turn you into a pessimist.

It is getting worse. You must not live in the real U.S.

The population in the U.S. is increasing and the percentage of THOSE people who actually finish high school or have any intentions to seek college are a fraction so small it would take the entire computer screen to write out that fraction.

the U.S. is destined to become the very lowest class society in the entire galaxy and everyone who takes a drive anywhere knows this.

don't even SUGGEST it's getting better because it's not. I can't go anywhere without seeing someone who looks "ghetto". These types now dominate society yet have and OWN nothing. THAT is the future of the U.S. and THAT is hilarious because it's true.
