Should young drivers be identified on their plates?

New Jersey intends to implement a red sticker on the corner of young drivers' plates. The state is doing this as part of its graduated license program.

Before everyone goes ahead and argues that this is some sort of age prejudice, let's take a quick look at both sides. Very few drivers are capable if educated enough about local traffic laws to obey them immediately. Reckless accelerating and braking are part of the learning process for many permit drivers, and that is why they are required to have a permit and drive with someone more experienced by law until they get their own license. As a result, it is understandable that young drivers would be more likely to break the law due to a lack of experience.

On the other hand, you have an issue where the vehicle is identified as belonging to a young driver which may not even be the case, causing the car to get targeted for more aggressive law enforcement. This begs the question of whether such law enforcement is effective because there aren't enough young drivers that are the only driver of their vehicles.

They have that here, Its a red magnet that you put on your car that has Black L on it you get this after your written test. You have that for a year and then you go for a road test and get a N sticker if you pass, you have this for 2 years in tell you get your actual license
L=Leaner
N=New Driver
can only have one passenger in the car not including immediate family and with the L some one with a valid drivers license and over the age of 25 has to be with you.

I have my learners and no police have given me or any one else i know a problem, its usually other drivers that try to scare you by tailgating, honking there horn and cutting you off.

I agree with this. Is there some type of penalty if a young driver is stopped without the sticker or magnet?

$100 Fine, and supposedly, a $500 additional fine will be imposed on the drivers parents. Aboslutely RIDICULOUS!!!!!

This ludicrous! legislation is named Kyleigh's Law.
Some dumb 16 year old broad was ILLEGALLY in a car with a 17 year old girl driver, along with numerous other teen girls driving stupidly, crashed, and this Kyleigh broad died.

So her mother has taken everything to the gvt. and it has all passed, and the laws should be implemented in May. (THIS MAY)

What about the drunks with DWIS on the road??? The 35 year old with NUMEROUS tickets for doing 100+MPH in 35MPH zones.
How about pedophiles and the elderyly? They all drive numerous times worse than 16, 17-21 year olds.
11PM restrictions??? ASSININE! EVERYONE! EVERYONE expects teens to work for themselves, and a good 85% of spring and summer jobs end at or past 11pm, so you know what government, your just causing more teens to become apathetic and lazy pieces of skin and bones.

I'm 17. I turned 14, got my working papers and pumped gas for 2.5 years.
After making roughly $35,000 working those years and going over several child labor laws i was banking!< for a 14, 15, ad 16 year old.
For about 6 months now Ive been a cashier at a Wholesale club.
School 7am-215pm EVERYDAY M-F. WORK NOW EVERYDAY M-F 4-10 pm. Ive made my own money. Parents pay the electricity and mortgage. Ive got my 2010 IBM 1SS/RS and no stickers will blow up the plates.
GVT needs to back off for once. Every single day the HORRIBLE state of NJ and FED US GVT becomes more and more fascist! IM SICK OF IT!

AND YOU KNOW THIS HOW?
THE LAW IS NOT EVEN ACTIVE YET? WHEN THE FIRST ROUND OF SEGREGATED TICKETS COME OUT AND "TEENS" TRY TO FIGHT THEM AND "WIN" THEN YOU CAN MAKE THAT COMMENT.
