To any officers on the forum
I was given a speeding ticket a few months ago and I go to court Monday. The officer wrote me down as 61 in a 40, but the speed limit was actually 45. I took pictures for the judge to verify the real speed limit, but I'm just curious what they will actually do? I may have been doing 61, but nobody could tell Me if it was 5 or 6 points for 21 over, so I contested it. 5mph is one point, so it's worth a shot. Also, the officer who wrote me up was driving towards me when he supposedly radared me(detector went off).
What do you all think?

not an officer, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to see if the speed limit was 45 and you have proof, you have a strong case for less points.and if you are eligable for traffic school,NO POINTS.good luck.

Try and negotiate it down to a non-point violation. Quite frequently they will do this for you. In NJ I know they can change it to creating a traffic hazard and you pay a fine but no points.

Go in plead guilty to speeding but ask for a deferred sentence. Most judges are to busy with other things to care about a minor speeding ticket. As long as they are gettin your money they arent to concerned about it.
