Washing car in the rain

Ok so the main cause of water spots is the minerals that are in the water that we use to wash the car correct? What if someone was to wash their car while it was raining and just let the rain wash everything off and let it sit in the garage and air dry? Random thought that popped into my head a couple moments ago.

There are a ton of contaminents in rain water. If you're that worried, buy a water softner to wash your car with.
