Spare Tire vs Inflator Kit

Hey guys,

What are your thoughts on having the car with or without the spare?

My original thought would be that I would definitely want the spare, just in case you run over a nail or something.

I guess my main question is: "Does this inflator kit really work? Has anyone used it successfully??"

Thanks everyone!!

I've got in in my Challenger and have had reasonable success with it, but
I'd like to add a spare to the Camaro. Is it possible to do for the 2SS?
At the very least, join AAA.

I've driven Camaro's without spares for years. AAA is your friend, especially if its a daily driver. You could always carry a plug kit for the easy fixes.

This is my third car that had no spare and just an inflator kit.. So far in the last 5 years I haven't had to use one... Usually getting a nail in a tire will defalte fairly slowly anyway, so you can just air it up and get to a repair place, just don't remove the nail first...

I just talked to my dealer and told me this:

1) There's still a constraint on the spare tire
2) You can't even order it for the 1SS or 2SS
3) Even if you have a spare, it doesn't come with a jack?????

I already have a 2LT on order, but keep going back and forth with the spare situation. I was going to order it from parts, but it sounds like it will be over $200

If I was getting a V6, I would definitely be getting the spare.

I ordered the spare with my LT ... but had to remove it due to the constraint. I would certainly rather have it...

You can't fit a full size spare in the trunk. And you can't use a donut because they won't fit over the Brembos on the SS. That's why there is no spare.

My dealer said "You have GM roadside assistance." I think it was poor planning. I'd like a spare too. I've only had 3 flat tires in 33 years of driving, but when you do, it's really nice to have a spare!

I don't want to go off topic (much) but rope plugs have no place on a car or truck tire. an internal plug/patch is the only safe way to go. Not to mention that if you do use a an external type rope plug, you've typically damaged the tire such that it cannot be repaired in a normal fashion.

No spare even possible... GM Roadside assistance, AAA or equivalent is the way to go. Plus most Camaros are staggered rims. Which one do you want - front or rear ? Putting the wrong diameter on the rear is brutal on the differential. (Unless for short drive distance)

#3 is incorrect you do get the jack when you order the spare tire option.
Why have a spare with no jack to change it? Not logical as Mr Spock would say.

exactly what i was thinking, yet this is what i was told by the dealer (probably didnt know any better)

since there is still a constraint on ordering the spare, does anyone know of a place to get a spare + a jack for a good price???
