Good goal for down payment on 1SS?
Hey guys,
I have been posting throughout my journey on getting my dreamcar. I'm 23 soon to be 24. I was originally going to get a V6 but made the mistake of test drving and renting a SS ![]() -Travis |

I put down 10k on my 2ss, got 3.9% rate on 28k loan, and payment is $505 mo. So, depending how much you pay, and your rate, payment likely going to be over $400.
If you borrow $23k, for 5 years and get 5% rate, your payment would be $432. Hope that helps. |

By the time you add in tax, title, and other BS dealer charges, it will be about another 3K. Depending on the intrest rate that you get, and how many months you plan to finance, 8K down may not be enough to keep you in the $400/month range.

I didn't want my pmt over $450 and was trying for a 5yr loan. I was real close but after adding in a 6/60 warranty I ended up have to go with a 5.5 yr loan but my pmt is like $454.
Don't forget about your TTL but also look at getting any kind of rebate or discount you can. I got $1,550 off between the USSA rebate and Preferred Pricing. You'll be wise to save the extra for the 1SS though. In the long run it will cost you more to trade in an LT for the SS. However.....I'll say just geting the car is the start. I've already got about $2,500 in basic mods.

If you wait til the 2011s hit the dealerships, you can likely get a good deal on a 2010.

Everyone has their own unique financial situation. The most important thing for you to consider is how will this purchase affect your life style.
Look ahead for the term of the loan and be very sure that you can support the payments until the loan is payed off. Don't overextend yourself just to satisfy the urge to get the car. Remember, dealers do not consider your future when selling you a car. You are the one that will be ultimately responsible for any contract that you sign. Dont let want get in the way of practical thinking.
