Breathless Intake

Thought i'd pass this on if anyone hasnt seen it. Pretty much same design as other comapnies, besides how filter is designed. Gains look good and dyno vid to show difference vs stock. Anyone running this? Opinions?

How exactly does it get RAM air? It's behind the headlight and isn't directly open to the airflow off the front of the car. We won't even go into the affects of ram air at speeds that the Camaro is capable of. It's funny to see them post NO PLASTIC PARTS, LIKE OUR COMPETITORS, like that's a good thing. I guess they haven't read about the thermal properties of aluminum.

I think they call it ram air due to the design of the air filter possibly.. ? Not sure, but im no genius on thermal properties of plastic vs aluminum myself but if you do look at most competitors including: C.A.I and ADM they both seem to be the most popular choices amongst most forum members and both yielded the best results in Jannettys intake test and both use aluminum elbows.

CAI is ceramic coated. Makes a BIG difference. The elbow on the ADM is not aluminum it is silicone. It does have a powder coated aluminum tube.

Oops forgive me for the misinterpretation.

As was posted, the CAI has a ceramic coating. Many of the CAI companies make a SS version for the guys that want bling. The guys that want power over bling go for the nonmetalic tubes. Aluminum drops it's heat faster than plastic or some of the polymers that are used. That heat is exchanged with the coldest source which happens to be your intake air. That equates to increased IAT's. While at cruise, it's not a huge difference but every little bit helps. It's certainly not something you would want to brag about.

Not sure what filter they use but i've never heard of a filter that caused a RAM affect. I don't think it's physically impossible for a filter to produce a RAM affect. It has to be in the open air to get increased velocity air into it, which theirs isn't. Even then it's been proven to be worthless until you get up into the VERY high speeds, of which the Camaro won't do without a bit of engine and aero modding.

We have tested parts over the yrs and aluminum tube type intakes are NOT the way to go...
Stick with plastic or ceramic coated before SS or regular AL.....
