Looks like Ford is making a 6.2L pushrod motor

Here is the story. It is for the F150 SVT raptor off road truck. Interesting, maybe this is Ford finally looking to take advantage of the lower cost to performance ratio in a 2v pushrod motor. Or maybe they will only use it in a few limited applications, but this would represent a change in direction from all their current OHC and DOHC v8 motors.

Yeah, and it does'nt say whether it will be an aluminum or cast iron block, so I don't know if it is a good candidate for the mustang. According to most rumors, the mustang is going to get the DOHC 5.0 motor, so I think this maybe a cast iron truck engine, not a high output car type motor, but it is interesting to see them looking in a different direction based on GM and Chrysler's success with pushrod motors.

Let's not forget that that's what the L99 is getting with the same size engine

I really don't see it going into the mustang, but yeah, it's interesting that they're going this route for any of their vehicles.

unfortunately its a 2V SOHC, not a pushrod OHV motor and its rated at 425/425 HP/TQ at its release. Ford abandoned pushrod motors a long time ago:

they won't put it in the GT, the GT is getting the 5.0 because they are trying to keep weight down. something like this may make its way into special editions down the line, but it will result in a heavier vehicle:

Initial information on valve sizes of the 6.2 L puts the intake valve at 2.10 in and the exhaust valve at 1.65 in. [2] Later high-performance versions will be equipped with DOHC 4-valve heads and gasoline direct injection (GDI). A "TwinForce" 6.2 L DOHC 4-valve, twin-turbo, GDI version of the Boss is being developed and has reportedly produced over 650 lb·ft (881 N·m) in testing, although there are no known plans time to install this engine in a production application.

That's true. A while back, I remember some people on one of the threads here, putting GM down saying the retro Camaro was copying Ford and Dodge strategy. None of them mentioned the fact that Mustang was conceived as an answer to the Corvette and Corvair.

My mistake...I thought it was a pushrod motor from the way it was written. Guess they will keep focusing on their SOHC motors. When will they learn...

Wow, this is sqaurely in the realm of tinfoil hats and radio wave mind control. Why on earth would anybody ever want to answer the disaster that was the Corvair? As for the Corvette, while nice, it was and is a limited production, two seat sports car far removed from the Mustang in terms of price and practicality.

The 6.2L Boss is indeed a SOHC (initially) design intended primarily for truck duty which will easily provide class peading power by way of competitive peak power numbers and a class-beating (and by some margin) torque curve.
