REAR WHEEL MAX SIZE
what would be the max sizi tires i could put on the rear of my camaro 1ss?
thanks for all info... |
Assuming you mean width, theres plenty of guys running 315 width. If you mean height, theres a 2010 Camaro on 28" rimz on Miami craigslist LOL

305's fit perfectly.

315's fit amazing lol (just got them!)

Max width tire is 315 wide. Fits perfectly, even on lowered cars. Of course, you will need a 10.5 to 11.0 wide wheel to accommodate that tire width properly. And an experienced wheel source to get the proper fitment :)

I wouldn't put bigger than a 305 on stock rim's. If you plan on ordering aftermarket (see Tony) and get a 10.5 or 11 inch then slap on 315's.

bws_82, not intending to be offensive, however, I think you are pushing it to far recommend putting a 305 tire on the stock wheels. The recommended ranges for the 9 inch wheel shows a 295 tire as the largest tire for a 9 inch wheel, I would not recommend anything larger for a tire on the stock wheels. Here are the recommendations: 295 tires: 9 to 11 305 tires: 9.5 to 11.5 315 tires: 10 to 12 I would recommend staying mid to wide side of the width range when buying wheels for the tire size you want to use. |
i assume you would need correct offset of 35mm on rear to fit a 315? you would not say a wheel with offset of 25mm can fit under fender?

The stock rear wheel has a +40 mm offset, if you use a new wheel with same offset and the 315 tire this combination will stick out an additional 0.8 from stock position. If you go to a +35mm offset it will stick out an additional 1.0 inch, +30mm -> 1.2 inch. Pick up the trend? I have the 305 tire and am using a +40mm offset and seeing 0.6 inches from stock - the tires are still within the wheel well - this set up works great for me. I think +40mm would work fine for me as well for the 315 tires. The front wheel/tire combination seems more sensitive to offset however I think for most wheel/tire combinations something in the range of +30mm would be the target offset. |
Be careful when discussing offsets. Offset measurements must be included and referenced to a specific wheel width, or the information means nothing. Both are linked directly. A 20x9 wheel and a 20x10 wheel with the same offset do not fit anything alike.

I bought my wheels from Nine Ball. I have 11" wide rims and 315 wide tires on the back. My car is lowered and they look and fit great!
