Molded Splash Guards
Has any one see a picture of the Camaro with molded splash guards? I noticed is is an option... I am not sure the cost. All of the cars I have purchased over the years off of the lot have had splash guards. They have always looked good so I assume they would look good on the Camaro as well. Has anyone requested this on their orders? I don't remember being asked if I wanted them.

I haven't seen any yet myself. I'm not sure what they would look like.

They are listed as an over the counter item.
|
the only place i've seen them is in the accessory display case at the shows

I don't think any of us have seen 'em on a Camaro yet, but am confident they will look very nice. They are one of the extras that I do believe I'll add to my SS when they become available.

I assume the molded splash guards will look like this:

After my experience with my Prelude, I don't think I could go the route of splash guards again. The ones on the Prelude are molded rubber that follow the contours of the fenders. What nobody tells you is that over time, since these are in direct contact with the paint of the car, any flash left over from the molding process can leave an imprint in the paint, and, in my case, remove it down to the primer as the flash slowly etches its way down. At this point I can never take them off without repainting four fenders.
Just be advised that this could be a potential future problem, and make sure to scope out how they are going to be attached to the Camaro. Depending on how GM has engineered it, it may not be an issue at all, but just giving my $0.02 :). |
I ordered a set, but I have not seen them on a Camaro yet. Anyone else?
Update: Just got notified they are on back order |
There was (or is) a pic on here somewhere of, I think, an IOM that the guy had them put on and said the GM emblem had to be moved or something.....they looked preety good in the pic....I think he called them "quarter panel flares" or something like that......

I ordered via GM Parts Direct http://www.gmpartsdirect.com - the list price is $199, their price $144.87 though shipping was steep at ~ #30 - still cheaper than OTC plus local tax. They're on national backorder per an email I got this morning - I assume due to GM restructuring.
