V6 Camaro can do 1/4 in 14.1?

Ok so I know that most of you are probably tired of threads like these, but I just have to ask. Especially seeing that we don't really know any performance #'s until we get further information.

We do know how much the V6 Camaro weighs 37XX.00 (I think 3751 according to the .pdf spec sheet.)

We know that the V6 will have the 304hp 273ft lbs torque 3.6L DI, VVT V6

We've heard that the V6 will do 0-60 in 6.1 although they plan on getting that down to 5.9 seconds by launch.

& finally I think most people are predicting that it'll run the 1/4 in 14.5.

But someone on another forum said he heard that they got the V6 to run the 1/4 in 14.1 seconds. Anyone else know of this?

I'm just asking because I think 14.1 is actually a pretty good time for the V6 Camaro if that is the case. And with some light bolt-ons it should most definitely be capable of achieving high 13's...

I guess that just sorta excited me so I wanted to see if anyone also heard of that #.

Thanks everyone!

Sounds feesible.

Funny my old high school 3.4l V6 94 Camaro could barely break into 15s with bolt ons.

It's almost embarrassing I thought my 14.4 (the first time at the track) was great for my '95 at the time. I dropped several tenths later after learning to drive better, but to think a V6 would be running those numbers only ten years later is pretty cool. If I knew that then I probably would've been disappointed but even if it "only" runs in the mid-14s, that'll be great.

These cars have to get faster.

Look at the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, & Nissan Altima & the new Maxima for example.

I mean these cars are getting like 260-290hp out of their V6's and they are doing 60 in under 6 seconds and the 1/4 in low 14's. It's sad to think that a Camaro could lose to one of these cars.

So I'm praying that the V6 Camaro will be able to achieve the 1/4 stock in low 14's. High 13's would be just awesome stock, but that's unlikely.

I totally agree... mustang is a wuss at stoplights around town, I don't even try anymore. 210hp and 0-60 in the 7's is the suck.

DUMB QUESTION I KNOW: could a v6 camaro with some light mods, like a cat back, tune and CAI beat a v8 Mustang?

It is possible

Our (their) 4.6 is a pushover.

Hell, look at the supra, thats a 6 (not a v6, but a 6) and a modded supra will walk most v8's on the street.

Driven properly, and mated to the stick shift, a completely STOCK Camaro 3.6 will, at very minimum, keep right with a Mustang GT automatic.

Obviously, transmissions will take into account, as well as driver ability. But I don't see a Mustang GT leaving ANY 3.6 Camaro in the dust. No way.

Now, you start modifying your Camaro and the GT Mustang is still stock, in the words of Tony Soprano, "fuhgetabahtit!"

It depends on how bad you want that cool (but you can only get it with leather on pretty much fully loaded trim levels) ambient lighting deal. A V6 with ambient light and leather (required if you want the light) will probably cost as much if not more than a cloth SS and no lights.

Make consessions where appropriate, and I think you'd be surprised when GM finally releases pricing.

I have already made my mind up that I will get the SS1 trim level - that means cloth interior, no lighting package, no BA sound system, and I will keep the options to only the RS package and a moonroof. I still think with that you will be able to get the SS for under 30k. You get your SS performance and don't break the bank.

It's when you go for the SS2 trim (leather, BA sound system, interior lighting package) that the price shoots to the moon.

yea i know but i am loving the looks of the RS so it looks like i will get an LT2 RS which is about the price of a base V8. i want the performance but not that bad to kill the looks of this car.

I doubt that an LT2 would be THAT close to an SS1 but who knows :iono:

Those new Altima's, Accords, Camry's, and the Maxima I now have problems with. They are about as quick if not slightly quicker than my SS/SC and that's just a disturbing thought.

I know I'm planning on getting a pretty loaded LT(2) w RS. All I want really is leather, steering wheel controls, maybe the BA. I won't be getting one until mid summer of 09, and with my family GM employee discount I'm hoping I can get the price down to 26k or something.

I do too. I mean I can see a fully loaded LT(2) w RS package encroaching high 20's but I don't think it's really going to cost as much or more than a base SS(1). If that's the case though I'll take the SS(1)...

But like I posted I got really excited when I heard someone say they heard the V6 ran the 1/4 in 14.1 that means that the 13's are only a few bolt-ons away...
