Wanting to get a new bottom end underway to handle even more power...
Am wanting to pull the trigger on a LsX block
Part number 19260095.. This shows it to be a complete finished block.
Says fully machined, bored, honed.. (4.065 bore)
Thoughts are to do a fully forged 3.622" (376) or 4.00" stroke (416ci) rotating assembly in this block..
Any one have experience with these lsx's??
Any thing you have to do to it before you can start assembling?
Any extra parts you have to purchase? Cam bearings, covers?
Will be swapping over the ls3 goodies on to it..

Buy it bare and the. Have a machine shop do all the work on it. Everything needs to be balanced before assembly too. What internals?

This part number is the block they use for the 376 (4.065) crate motor, shows that it's 100% finished!! Which would be sweet. The non finished blocks are the same price. Which would make no sense if I wanted a 4.065 bore anyways.. That's what caught my eye, no machine work!! Start bolting things up! Just going to see if anyone had any more knowledge about this "finished" block.. Don't want to spend 2,500 on a block and then it shows up and have to do a bunch of work on a "finished" block. Lol

I'd just buy a built shortblock from TSP.

They're not fully finished. They need to be bored again with simulated heads on. The pressure of the heads clamping down will move the bores, so they need to be done again. GM doesn't do it this way, but it's the right way of doing things. The marines need to be line bored too. Nothing can just be bolted in, you need to take it to a machine shop and have everything balanced, even if you just pulled it out of a motor. You'll need new rings too.

Again, what internals are you using? Stuff you have or need to buy?

And cheaping out on skipping a little machine work that will probably still be needed when building a $6k+ short block isn't the best idea. All the machining will have to be checked and cleaned up anyways.

Think the LsX block is 1000.00 more then the LS3.
