Here are a few things I have done to clean up the engine compartment. First was to get rid of the engine cover and top intake manifold cover. I installed the TechAFX heater hose kit. It also includes a new fuel line. I polished the fuel rail and rotated it 180degrees.

I like what you've done there....but truth be told is doesn't "clear up" the plumbers clutter the OP pointed out regarding our egine bays. Removing the engine cover just exposes the mess beneath lol.

looking real good. Looks like you actually have a muscle car engine rather than a piece of plastic :)

The only thing else that mr good wrench could do is a coil relocation kit and get some new valve covers. you really can't do much else unless you are going to do some major surgury. ADM did a build where they moved the fuse box out of sight and that really cleaned to motor bay up some, but that is pricey.

I cleaned mine up by using 2012 Camaro heater hoses, flipped the fuel rail 180 degrees, removed the intake manifold cover and powder coating the coil brackets. In the next month I will make a few more changes.

Looking for thoughts on powder coating the stock intake in a "wrinkle Black' finish. It will be subtle but slightly different than factory. Perhaps a more cast aluminum look. I'm going for a industrial high tech look. Not to showing or Bling.

I did what alot of other guys here have done.
But I routed the wires where it splits around the oil fill cap to what I believe is a better position. Also mounted the evap solenoid to the ECM tower which I haven't seen anyone else do yet. |

Well, I got my flat black powder coated polish and ported throttle body today. I actually mail them my last Wednesday and received it today. Great turn around time.

I got mine back together today got the second T/B and the valve covers back from powder coat. Installed the headers while it was down got some Russell classic black traded hose and re routed the oil catch can hoses. Cleaned up the wiring on the passenger side and for the coils. Also installed a set of JBA 8mm plug wires and a set of pulstar adi1 iridium plugs. No problem with the T/B this time. I'v got a polished cover for the brake fluid reservoir and a billet tentioner pulley on the way, and a few other things to get after that. Oh and add a 3 piece front and fender filler panels and yea I'm going to black out around the rubber hood stops.

Roctrux, holly Shix man! You have been busy. What a difference since your last update. I like the little touches like the red bolts on the trottle body and coil packs. With the all the red white and blue action going on, I feel I should stand up and solute it, LOL. Very nice job all around, congrats. :thumbsup::thumbsup:
By the way, what did you do for the dip stick? Me like. |

Where did you get that piece to cover the radiator? Did it already come IBM?

each to their own....but I personally dont see the point in doing anything under the hood, it still looks like a plastic monster took a dump in there....the only thing I would be proud to "show" off would be some nice fat turbos or a Whipple supercharger. Other than that, there's nothing different about anything under the hood, and if there is, its just coloring. Now the older cars, with no vacuum lines, no plasticky stuff, can look good to me....but again, just a personal preference.

The name of this thread is "Project Cleaning Up Our Engine Bay and not "My engine Bay" for a reason. I see it as a community effort where we all share each of our projects, ideas, pictures, thoughts, suggestions, inspirations, questions, etc...... Just as I've benefited from certain members in this community, my thinking behind this thread is for all to benefit. This will also keep our pioneers from having to answer the same questions over and over individually. So I encourage all who have made changes, have ideas, thoughts, advice, pictures, etc... to please post here. For those who rather just keep the factory plastic cover, that's cool too, just no need to reiterate. :w00t: |
