40+ degree of timing advance
 

So I'm doing some data logging today and my Torque program on my Android is showing that I have 40 degree of timing advance.:confused0068:

What the heck is going on? BTW, I'm using the preconfigured PID that came with torque.

timing is all based on engine load/airflow and rpm if you are just cruisin at light throttle you may have 40+ * timing thats normal,,,

now if you said that you had 40* timing at wot then you would have issues

yep, Stock timing maps have upwards of 45* in low load/rpm areas

The lighter the load on the engine and the slower the engine turns the more timing one needs to achieve good power. So it's perfectly normal to run 40+ degrees of timing while cruising or just driving around lightly.

At full throttle you will never see this.

Try cruising on the interstate where there is no grade and you'll be even more surprised. Mine runs between 52 and 53 degrees advance at 72 MPH.
