Whipple setup lost power & leaking water

Hey Guy's, just went out for a hard run to show a friend the performance, when car has lost power won't rev & brought up a misfire DTC, when parked up it's leaking water now from back of the engine somewhere near the oil filter but more to the middle, haven't had chance to get it up in the air yet to see properly. Also exhaust was alot quieter than usual with some rattling coming from exhaust I think & was extra hotter than usual. Any idea's from anyone who has experienced this before with whipple SC.

My guess is either, high flow catts have blocked up & now I have blown head gasket maybe, or Whipple intercooler is leaking into cylinders.

Did you check the oil to see if you had water in it?

Yes checked that & all good, no color change or rise in level.

Nope, belt looks still in good condition, thought it may have been slipping to start with until I checked it. It will free rev up to 6000rpm but when I load engine it won't go above 4500rpm & does not sound pretty, but still idles & drives normally when cruising which makes me think 1 of the catts has clogged up which has caused to much heat & pressure causing head gasket to give. Friends got a Radiator pressure tester so trying that tomorrow first.

Do your basics first, check engine coolant level, check SC coolant level, pressure test both systems then start diagnosing from there, also what was the misfire code? P0300 is random misfire, P030X (X) represents the cylinder that is misfiring. Let us know what you find

Could have melted and spark plug.
If a cat was plugged you would have reduced engine power mode.

The symptoms you describe are exactly what I had when my cats blocked except the leaking says more going on. If the cats blocked and you pushed it hard the added boost (pressure) possibly blew a head gasket. I hope not worse than that. Good luck and let us know what you find.

My cats totally plugged up and I didn't get any light or reduced power mode.

Boost leak? Check all the connections to see if anything is loose. I would think the manifold intercooler would run water directly into the intake runners. Did you check the supercharger itself and the intercooler-heat exchanger hoses?

Mine went right into limp mode after the cats melted.

I have sorted it now, the catts are toast! only in car for three months & completely blocked, Ive gutted them now. The water leaks may have been a coincidence, coming off the oil cooler, so have taken that off & blocked off water, no water leaks now. Power seems to be restored, will check plugs later, having a beer now thank f*^k, feel more relaxed. I will post pics later of catts, really disappointed paid good money for crap!

These are what they look like, when removed, I will be talking to manufacturer bout this, if no joy I maybe bad mouthing them till sorted. Really pissed bout quality, If no good for supercharging this should be stated.

Glad you found the problem. I went to ARH high flow cats and they have held up perfectly.
