MILLINGTON, Tenn., (April 7, 2012) – The new and popular CamaroGuys.com Gen 5 Challenge will be making headlines again at the Memphis International Raceway (MIR) on the second stop of the Super Chevy Show tour in 2012, April 13-15.
The already popular event launched in March at the first Super Chevy Show at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) for 2012, with winner Stephen Vigoa and his modified 2010 Camaro. At 129.95 MPH, Vigoa won the custom limited-edition trophy with a 10.70 Dial-In and 10.776 E.T.
http://superchevyshow.com/wp-content...IR-300x225.jpgExcited with the results of the first CamaroGuys.com Gen 5 Challenge, Jill Canuso, Marketing Director for CamaroGuys.com is looking forward to the challenge in Memphis.
“I was thoroughly impressed with the inaugural CamaroGuys.com Gen 5 Challenge at PBIR. Stephen Vigoa’s 10-Second winning pass leaves no question that 5th Generation driver’s are serious about performance,” said Canuso. “The bar was raised early at PBIR, so the Memphis Challenge should be thrilling. We can’t wait to see who brings their ‘Gen 5 Muscle’ to Memphis!”
Vigoa’s 2010 Camaro boasts impressive modifications that include the following and many more: PFADT drag-specific suspension, Whipple 2.9 supercharger at 8.5 pounds of boost, LS3 Conversion, Kooks headers, MBRP cat-backs, 3.91 gear, Circle D 3800 stall converter, DSS 1400hp rated axles and dyno tuned by Torq, as well as a Torq custom cam, dual fan heat exchanger and drag intercooler tank. However, the winning Camaro isn’t just muscle, it was also the Class Winner for 2010 Modified in Sunday’s judged Car Show.
“In drag racing, I like the fact that I have the ability of driving fast without dealing with the normal daily street restrictions and being able to push the vehicle to its limits, while taking safety into consideration. In car shows, I like the way people admire and appreciate my car after putting so much hard work and effort into detailing it,” said drag racing and TRI-County Camaro Club member, Stephen Vigoa.
At the young age of 14, Vigoa had his first taste of drag racing at the Palm Beach Super Chevy Show in 2006, after watching his father and uncle racing at the event. At age 18 he started racing his Camaro, and after diligent practice Vigoa has come a long way from his first ever run 13.94 at 105 MPH in 2010.
“After that first pass we spent every Wednesday and Friday at the drag strip, and I soon realized I needed to go faster, as I was getting beat by every car at the track, so that’s how my passion for drag racing got started,” noted Vigoa.
Thrilled with successes of the Super Chevy Show in Palm Beach, Camaro5.com’s Moderator, TRIBONE is also looking forward to the 5th Gen turnout at the event in Memphis.
“I’m very proud of the success of the first Super Chevy Show in Palm Beach,” said TRIBONE. “I’m confident the 5th Gen showing at Memphis will duplicate if not exceed the turn out at Palm Beach. It’s going to be an exciting season with all these 5th Gens out there now and the upcoming ZL1 just around the corner!”
“I also want to congratulate Stephen Vigoa for winning the CamaroGuys.com Gen 5 Challenge, Congratulations! It’s not easy to win the drags with so many modified Camaros out there. That trophy looks like it belongs with your car. And I would also like to congratulate the Tri‐County Camaro Club of Miami for representing the 5th Gen Camaros! Be proud guys and girls, winning the Club Participation Award is a great accomplishment!
I think it’s awesome that the 5thGen owners have been able to get together and participate at events like the Super Chevy Show. It shows the devotion and love that we Camaro5 owners have for not only our cars, but also for our group of new found-family that we call ‘Club,’” said TRIBONE.
MIR is encouraging Car Show participants to run their 5th Generation Camaros in the CamaroGuys.com Gen 5 Challenge for a special rate of $20 with paid Car Show registration fee ($45). In addition, the special value rate applies to all Car Show participants interested in racing in the True Street bracket as well.
Watch out Rockingham Dragway racers, Vigoa said he might throw his hat into the ring at the Super Chevy Show event again, October 19-21!:D:D:D:D:D:D

So what classes are they running at this race? On the website I saw 3 bracket classes (Super Pro, Pro, DOT) and also real street.

What is the Gen5 challenge? Bracket/index or heads up?

So I talked to Jill at CamaroGuys.com and she said the Gen5 challenge is a 1/4 mile bracket race.

Last minute, but may go race that class this weekend.
