Replica SS rims on My LS
 

Hey guys,
I have a 2012 LS camaro, obviously v6. I need help because i'm really not a genius when it comes to upgrades but i always research and think everything though. The rims i want are very cheap and very nice looking. I'm tired of the unappealing heavy stock rims on the new LS's. Here's the info for the rims. 20x9" 5x120 with a 35mm offset i believe. Not too positive. Now i think i remember reading for a LS, the front rims are 40mm and the rear rims are 50mm offset? Yet again, not positive. So how would i make that work out with the rims? Also, just to be sure what size tires would i need? my stock tires are P245/55R18. I tried compatibility matches and it said 265/40/20. If that's right, what are the best tires i should get? Please try to explain it as simple as possible, as i'm only 19 right now but i'm a proud lover of my v6 that i have bought all by myself, no help. I'm also planning on getting SLP loudmouth 2's on it soon but, one upgrade at a time :)

on that 20", you are looking at 275/40/20 on all corners. The added benefit is additional cornering stability as well as you can do a normal tire rotation.

I love having the RS 20's on my 2LT, I think they're better looking. I also have a love/hate relationship with the tires being bigger in the back. You can't rotate them, which sucks.

The SS comes with a 245/45/20 on the front on a 20x8.0 wheel and a 275/40/20 on the rear on a 20x9.0 wheel. I would think that if all 4 of your tires are 20x9.0 you should go with the 275/40/20 that comes stock as GEEKFREAKSCOTTY mentions above.

For the cost of the "cheap" rims and 4 new rear tires. You might be better ahead just buying a set of OEM takeoffs in the F/S section. Unless you really want 9" fronts

Well the LS has 245/55 front and back. and the rims are 18x7.5. So if i got 275/40 with 20x9 in all 4 corners it would be fine? Would the front and back offset when they're being put on matter? and i know it might be a little expensive but i pretty much like these rims. As annoying as it is to change tire size as well, i think it'll be worth it. The only thing that sucks is that the tires are new.

So i think it's settled on getting 275/40 all around with the 20x9 rims but i'm still worried about how i need to do the offsets.

I don't know how much you are going to pay for your replica rims and tires, but here's a set for sale in the marketplace for a great price and you don't have to worry about offsets.

There are also several other threads with OEM SS wheels and tires listed.

If I recall, 20x9 with a 34mm+ offset is what you are looking for with those tires.

You can run factory take offs but you can't do a normal tire rotation. Personally, that's important to me, so I opted to use the same wheels and tires all around when/if I ever upgrade to 20s.

That other post is a nice price and that's low mileage but the thing is, this is a brand new camaro, 3k miles on it and i'm the first owner. So everything is pretty much brand new, so i'd rather spend the extra money on new everything. So I guess 275/40 all around would work for full tire rotations and the rims would fit without any problems, and if its 34+mm offset, if i get the put on at a shop will they do the offsets right?

Yeah, that link is helpful. Those are nice looking wheels, I love the dark finish (but I am biased). I also know a little bit about brand new Camaros and wanting everything new for it (I've bought 2 in the last 12 months), so I understand your thought process.

I'd go with 275/40/20's all around and be done with it. I would think a 34+mm offset should be fine. If you are still not sure, why don't you create a thread in the Wheels&Tire section of the forum, you might have some more luck over there.

You have to buy the wheel with the correct offset built into it ;)

If you are buying a replica SS wheel however, that isn't likely to be an issue.

This. I just bought a set of four factory SS 20's with tires, polished 5 spoke off Craigslist for $600. That was a steal, but there are plenty in the 1,000 range, with very good rubber.
