I just want to know...what the BIG difference is between LS2 and LS3 that makes people feel the way you do TAG...I have a vauge idea - but I'm not getting the overwhelming sensation of pissyness when I think of a LS2 Camaro that I know I should be feeling ;)

LS2 vs LS3

LS2 is 6.0L/364ci , LS3 is 6.2L/376ci (LS3 has a .065" larger bore)

LS2 uses first gen style heads with Cathedral shaped intake port, and 15 degree valve angle(same as on the C5 Z06 LS6 engine, but with cheaper valves) 2.00" I valve and 1.55" E valve

LS3 uses new style L92/L76 based heads with rectangle intake ports, larger valves(2.16" I valve, 1.61"(or 1.58")E valve, a shallower (same as LS7) 12 degree valve angle, and (in the Vette) a higher lifter cam(.550 vs .520)

Ahh. I see. That clears it up.
See the stuff I knew about was more the superficial stuff: VVT (maybe) Direct injection...etc. That stuff.
Either way - "I see"

Well since this is an open forum, I'm going to throw my nickle's worth in ( it was two cents but I adjusted for inflation ha) The '08 Corvette already has the LS3 with 430 HP. I have a feeling that NOBODY really knows what GM has up their sleeve, including GM. There are many last minute changes that will be made. I guess the LS2 & 3 could be offered in the same year. We really don't know that much about the LS3. Are the new heads and chamber design better suited for better gas milage and better flex fuel capacity? Is this engine better capable of stricter CAFE regulations? If so the LS3 is the choice for the future. I'm sure they know what we want and how long we have waited for it. I'm sure they realize our loyalty. and trust me for waiting this long....brother we're LOYAL.

the LS3 isnt VVT or SIDI at this time.

I to would rather have an LS3 over an LS2, and I really don't believe the initial camaro will have the LS2. That being said I would still buy the LS2 just because anything over 350 is going to do me just fine(as long as its a V8) and I will be buying a new car to replace my truck in 2009.

Couldn't have said it better myself...I only hope it will be FlexFuel...:iono:

My personal opinion is that the top of the line v8 engine when the car comes out will be a 436hp LS3, and the mainstream V8 will a 365hp L76.

Thread re-opened. Sorry...had a troll come in and we had to delete some stuff. I forgot to re-open it...my bad.

I can see that happening, no problems here, as long as the L76 is supercharge-able....is that a word?:D

And Tag, no worries bud - it comes with the job...mistakes are expected - otherwise we'd think you were a computer....And I'd feel like a fool talking to a computer this whole time!:bonk:

Why, they are totally different cars. the Vette is a 3200 pound super car with two seats and Zero versatility and little storage and the Camaro is a Muscle car with 4 seats and a trunk, that will possibly weight around 3800 pounds, but it's a versatile car.
I own a 01 C5 Vette and I am trading it in on a 09 Convertible Camaro.
I am tired of the vette, I have 60K on it now amd I hate to drive it now, My Modded 05 Mustang is faster than it and more fun to drive, believe it or not. My vette runs 13.4 @108 Best time.
My 05 GT runs 13.1 @ 105 with CAI, UDP, Tune, 4.10 gears & BFG Drag Radials. (1000 bucks in mods)
Adding CMDP and TCI 3000 Stall this week, Plans are to run 12.7 by august. (another 1000 bucks)
but I would have spent a total of 30k on this car and I am running high 12's and my 40k vette does 13.4
My 05 GT right now has the same HP as my stock C5 people ask why I like my Stang..

I hope the Camaro will be more refined than my S197 Mustang and I am sure it will be more fun to drive, with Aussie engineering for frame and suspension, and 400 + ponies, the Camaro will be a blast in the twisties and at the strip. I have said this before, the only two groups of people that you see driving a vette are OLD GUYS and HOT CHICKS. and I hate being Old

Old guys because they're usually the only ones who can afford one.
Personally I wouldn't care which car I had (if I had the dough). Ask me this question 3 months ago and I'd tell you I want the Vette, hands down. But the Camaro has grown on me these past months. I really, really think it is the car for me. You know how every person just looks like a {insert car name} guy/ gal? Well, I think I am a Camaro guy true, and through...:iono:

But like I said above, I love the Vette almost as much. It's the best car on the planet - IMO.

LOL!!

Geez - and I'm an old chick, no vette… (Does the LS2 in my car count for anything?)
