Thinking about putting in a SC

So I have no clue about this AT ALL!

I don't want to go off the top crazy, just add a SC. Besides the SC what else would be needed? Also is there their scheduled maintenance on a SC? And what is the preferred brand?

If you want OEM style go with the Magnacharger, the maintenance interval is 100k miles. It will be a nice power increase and will be the most fun on the street too.

That is the one a was actually looking at, allthough a bit more then I was looking to spend but not out of the question. I was also looking at this, any opinions on this one:

From what I've seen, $6000-$7000 is about the going price for all of the available systems. There are no cheap systems out there other than used.

Sent from a Galaxy Note 2, far far away.

Ive got that kit.. love it! nice gain and you can still drive it as a normal car under boost. Everything needed comes in the kit, I did change out the ngk sparkplugs for some acdelco zr1 plugs cause I dont really like ngk

Yea, I was hoping to get one under 7k, ill just expand my budget a bit.

So with magnacharger, nothing else is "needed" correct?

This my .02 on this one. First there are two great things here, the first is the kit and the second is Matt @ FSP who you'd be buying from. The centri blower won't make as much power down low as the maggie but its easier on your drivetrain since you won't make tire shredding tq down low. The ECS Kit is truly awesome because it gives you tons of room to grow. I made 844whp just on the BASE kit. Granted at that power you'll need a dual-pump and bigger injectors for sure. Because that was too much power for me daily ECS has a restrictor plate in the blow which limits power/boost while maintaining down low tq for a centri. By doing that I was able to dial it back and make 750whp on a ZL1 Pump, ADM FPCM, BAP. Nothing else did I change from the base kit. What I'm getting at here is you can make great power and then LOTS of power and have to upgrade pretty much not much at all. Your gonna spend a lot of money to even try and get a maggie to make 800whp+

Matt worked at ECS so he knows the kit inside and out and is one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever talked to. So my vote is for the ECS kit. If want to see some dyno graphs of my setup I'd be happy to share, just PM me.

Good deal on a used ECS kit here ^

let me add to the above. a Used kit from Matt(florida speed and power) will be a fully operational kit. He will not allow any bad/warn parts go out. Best vendor ive worked with in my quest to spend $40k in upgrades.

hell, he was the first person i reached out to for my GT500 also.. lol

I was looking at that, but should I be concerned about the used parts?

You and I in the same boat... I can get you an exceptional installer in Sanford who works dirt cheap. Did my cam swap...

Honestly though, I would project another 1k in small preventative parts that would need to be purchased as well. Everytime I have done a big install, I find myself purchasing additional stuff to make that modification have a bit more reliability. Not to mention you will probably dump 500-1k in labor costs even at the cheapest place. Project yourself at 8.5-9k. If you are doing your own install ..still project it at 8.

I will tell you the power adder of the cam wasn't as much as SC obviously... but when you couple that with the sound. I cam glad I did the cam first. That totalled me out at only 4.5-4.7k for everything including LS3 conversion, dyno, install, new lifters, etc etc

If you plan on selling this thing in 3-5 years, then used parts shouldn't hurt. I plan on keeping this car through generations.. cannot bring myself to do anything used.

I remember hearing your car last year at the rally, it sounded great. What is the purpose of a cam and are there any down sides?

Preferably I'd like to do everything at once.

I'm considering an SC as well and what I'm finding is that the SS suspension is not even close to being able to handle that kind of power. I've got bolt-ons and a cam and with around 460rwhp my car is like a wet noodle under full throttle. You add another 250hp and things will get interesting. So, when you mention, "what else do I need" you need to get serious about suspension upgrades, mainly to the rear cradle. Another 2k to 3k to do it right.

I'm hoping to hear from some of the others who have experience here to chime in..
