Anyone with a V6 running in the 13's
I own a 2013 V6 and haven't seen any slips or post about V6ers running in the 13's. That's a depressing thought. The 2007 Mustang GT I traded in for it had far less horsepower and I broke 13.9 with it stock. All I want is a Camaro that can do 13.9 or mid 13's. Besides a supercharger or juice, money really isn't a problem.

The mustang had more torque and probably shorter gears which is why it was in the 13's
If you have a manual i think you can upgrade the gears. Auto you can't. |
you can upgrade to 3.55 gears for the auto
|
but ive hit high 13s with 2000plus DA
|
I have a manual. I'll go 3.55 on the gears, no problem. I'm just sitting here thinking INJEN COI, slp loudmouth exhaust, gears, what else? I want mid 13's
|
if you have a manual you can go to 4.11s or whatever it is. 3.73s too
|
a good tune
|
If money is no object get a v8
|
Money was an issue when I bought the car. Real bad credit. If it wasn't for my credit I would be driving an SS. But I'm not, so I have to make due with what I have
|
why not get a v10 if money isn't a problem lol.

I didn't find it funny

well get a good set of 18in rims under 24 lbs at least and some 3.73s and youd be in the high 13s. of course along with a cai.

Haven't seen a stock V6 run into the 13s...so sorry but unless your track is located in a place with great air and elevation, it won't happen.
That said, we've had lots of guys with bolt on/tuned V6s run into the 13s, but again, if you are running in moderate to bad Density Altitude at your track, 13s may not happen. The GT was faster for a couple reasons. 1) less weight. 2) more torque. 3) lower geared. If the V6 weighed what the GT did and had the same gearing they'd be running into the high 13s stock as well. Wouldn't need the extra torque to do it. |

We have two members of the Detroit5thgen Camaro club with V6's, one in the low 13's, the other is in the 12.80's with a procharger.

somebody tell me were I can get upgraded gears for my car. I am running at 14.12 with stock tires an empty trunk and half tank on 87. going to try to hit high 13s. with 94 oct and 1/4 tank of gas.
|
get smaller rims. or do 3.55 gears if auto
|
.....and to the "should have gotten a V8" guy (always has to be at least one who feels compelled to jump in) - you should see how many of your SS brethren are running the SAME TIMES with their SS's......due to bad launches, and not having a clue how to handle the power!! ...lol
You don't see us getting on your posts with: Wanna go fast, should have gotten a Mustang"....do ya? Jeeez. Enjoy your LS man, it's a great car, with a great motor. I love my 13 RS M6, and have owned too many Mustangs to count, including a 2011 5.0. |

if his primary concern is speed, then yes, that would be the easiest route. . that's why they make a SS. for people who want to run below 14 ;) and no, I do not own a SS, just the V6 |
we can make our v6 just as fast as an ss. spend some money and we can still keep up with you

We had a member with a 2010 LT auto that ran low 12s on 125 shot. Had to sell it due to economic/family reasons though. Might find some posts in the Motorsports section about him. He was Rod1 on here.
|
I'll be happy with a simple 13.9. That's all I'm after

Also if money is not an issue, go boost or swap in an V8 Crate motor. |
ive beat a new 5.0 off the line to about mid second gear. By the end of second gear we were pretty close. its 3rd where the pass you.
And btw this is almost every time. |
Why do you have to come on a post obviously created for V6 camaros and flame people. I'm sure there are plenty of V8 posts that would better suit your needs. We are all here to help each other not demean or put down. Just relax, and take a deep breath.

Intake, tune, And if you are making enough power to where traction is an issue, then get tires.
Lose some weight, lighter wheels. A scoop for the cai? Some supporting suspension mods. If you are going to put a ton of money in, you really should just get a V8, unless having a really quick V6 is one of your goals. In that case, you can look into turbo/supercharger applications and engine work. But it didnt sound like you wanted to get into all that. |
IMO, and this is what i might do...do the bolts ons, and maybe some new rims/tires, tune, then you should be in high 13s with good DA and if you know how to race haha
then wait for the 6th gen SS, barring that it isnt ugly, then get a 1ss and permagrin. Thats what I will do. Im waiting for the 2nd year of the 6th gen cause the 1st year is always something wrong, but thats with everything |
