Lets do an XL spreed sheet
 
lets try to come up with what the Z/28 will sale for, will start with a stock 1 SS car and add all the upgrades to it, so lets start.

1 SS camaro = $32,635

Brakes Upgrade = $12,000 - less old 4 piston brake = $1,500 so that makes this upgrade $10,500

Seat upgrade = $6,500 - less old = $800 so that makes this upgrade $5,700

LS7 Upgrade = $17,500 - less old ls3 = $6500 so that makes this upgrade $11,000

Dry sump Upgrade = $2,000 is new

carbon fiber parts = $ 5,500

thinner glass = $1200

New rear end and gears = $ 3,500 less old parts = $2400

So that makes it come to a price of $70,935 and i say add $800 for shipping and may be a $1500-$2500 gas tax.

Brake upgrade, here we get the new rotors as well as the 6 piston up front so in my book that is a $12,000 upgrade, so now we have the car at $32,635 + the brakes = $44,635.00 lets go any one want to add info and price.

Rotorrs? A complete set of carbon zr1 brakes new from the dealer with rotors/pads/calipers can be had for about $8k. So at most add $8k but you need to take away the stock brakes which are probably $1000 or more so realistically it cost $7k. At the same time who knows what GM pays for those parts.

An LS7 maybe $12k but a LS3 is ~$7k so that is about a $5k motor upgrade.

GM offically said the Z/28 will be the most expensive Camaro, so for sake of arguement let's start at a MSRP of $60,000 for a high end ZL1.

Now add $17,000 MSRP for the LS7 engine and subtract $11,000 MSRP for the LSA engine. That's a bump of $6,000. Now I'm at $66,000

And add another $1,000 MSRP for the dry sump equipment that is external to the LS7 and engineered into the Zeta Chassis. Now I'm at $67,000.

Add another $7,500 MSRP for the track suspension and brake systems and I'm up to $74,500.

Wheels? How about $1,000 more? And tires? How about adding $2,000 for the Trofeos? Now I've got $77,500.

Aero body parts... Plus $1,000. Extra capacity cooling equipment, plus $1,000. And now at $79,500

And lastly, for the badge that makes Steve, Steve.... Plus $10,000

I come up with $89,500 with the Steve badge premium.... LOL !!!

Destination, plus $1,000

Stealership markup, plus $15,000

Sales Tax, plus $9,000

I'm kind of curious where you're finding someone who's willing to pay $7,000 for use LS3.

And again, curious as to where you're finding someone who'll buy your used Brembos for $1,000.

That would mean the Z/28 would be a suicide mission. hmm should I get the Z/28 with one speaker and no a/c OR a ZR1 corvette, that is also going to be faster...? Your number is so unrealistic :facepalm:

I never said that is what they would sell for, but GMs cost on them is probably around there.

A new LS3 goes for $7k easy if you are talking a brand new long block.

Why all the drama over price?? The car will be between $60-$65K...more than that, or into the $70's even and this car will NOT sell, except for a VERY limited few! GM is in the business of making money, even at a limited production model, this car needs to sell almost as good as the ZL1.

yea and if you look there are alot of used ZL1's for sale. over priced and the Z/28 will be to. Want to sell cars don't over price.

Right. But you were using the "new" prices when saying how much they would offset the cost of buying an LS7 and the carbon ceramic rotors. So that's like saying I'll sell my SS, buy a ZL1, and I'll only be out like $18,00.

Was just pointing out the flaw in your budgeting.

So GM will be selling a stripped Camaro frame for $60k? Get real. The Z/28 will be around $65k plus taxes and fees.

So the stripped COPO Camaro was just offered by GM at $55K. No engine, no transmission. I say you get real... LOL !!!

Z/28 is not stripped, so add in the LS7 and it comes with a transmission too. Z/28 also has a $10K suspension and braking system. I'll credit you $2.5K to pull out the ZL1 MRS and end up with an MSRP bump of $7.5K for the Z/28.

Have you priced Trofeo R tires? $65K is just $5K above the MSRP for a fully loaded ZL1. All the track parts on the Z/28 are going to be way more than $5K.

The COPO is not a production Camaro.

You don't add the price of the Z/28 components on top of a fully loaded ZL1. You can subtract the costs of the ZL1 components that aren't used and add in the costs of the Z/28 components but even then, we don't know what GMs cost is per part.

Still, I would be shocked to see the Z/28 MSRP be much higher than $65-70k.

I did that in my original post.

LS7 is $17K MSRP. LSA is $11K MSRP. I added the $6K diff..

I just did the same on the suspension and brakes, giving $2.5K "credit" for the removed ZL1 parts and only bumping the Z/28 the $7.5K diff.

You will be shocked when the MSRP comes out. Or I'll owe you a beer - LOL !!!

I, too think it will be pricey...If the same logic was used with the ZL1 compared to the SS by those hoping for an inexpensive Z/28, they would have the ZL1 priced at 45k...

Trading this for that at over-the counter prices I don't think really works...
