Cars will become lighter. Engine displacement will shrink. Yes, there will be more widespread use of turbo systems. NO - The V8 is NOT going to die off, and NO - Performance will NOT go away this time around. This isn't the '70s...it's only a very similar time. Ethanol, electric drive. they had very little (if any) of that back then. And today, people (including the engineers) are much less apt to give up performance this time around.

Don't worry. Things will change - but they're not gonna change for the worse.
