Tires for the Street
Currently running over 750 Hp at the wheels and the 315s MPSS are not liking it. The plan is to get a drag pack in the next couple of months, but for my street setup I need something else in the back. I have been looking at the nittos but can't make a decision on which one would work. Just looking for some feedback from you guys on this from your personal experiences. I wanted to look at the NT555s but none of them come in a 315. The only ones that do is the NT05, NT05r(drag radial version), and the INVOs. Just want something that is going to help me hook better over the MPSS on the street. Your opinions are valued. Not as concerned about wet traction as I couldn't really push it on wet roads right now on any tire. Thanks

Amazes me that no one has any input on this. Funny as I got answers off the CTSV forum pretty much within an hour and already has 40+ replies. Thanks again camaro 5.

I am running Toyo proxes R888 315 on back and 285 on the front love these tires. I was at 650 RWHP last season and it hooked very well. This season I should be in the 750+ RWHP club after my dyno session this Wednesday so I don't no how they will hold up with that power level but at 650 I had to try to spin the tires.good luck

I found the ZL1 Exclusive (FB page) is more informative. I am an early learner, but if know something, or think I can help, I will post. Glad you found the answer you were seeking.

I always thought the 315 MPSS is about the best street tire you can get!! I couldn't come up with anything better than that. Sorry you didn't get your answer as fast as you wanted. |

It isn't that I didn't get as fast as I wanted, instead it was not answered at all actually until I made a comment today lol. But its sad that I have to go to a completely different fourm to get any answers on a camaro after this one was on since Monday with no responses. And the other forum is a completely different car. Anyway back to the subject, the MPSS are great for 650 or below HP. Porbably pushing it at 650. From the answers I got it appears the NITTOs DRs are going to the be option for my "street" setup, which is my 20" wheels.

Is this tire a drag radial or a street tire? I'm confused...

It is a street/ strip radial that really hooks very well, there is a new version out that is supposed to be better in wet conditions. The link will take you there.

With that power man, I would look at going with a wheel that you can get a tire with more sidewall on. I sold my ET Streets and went right to a 17 inch RT-S drag pak, but you can always go 18s like MLee did. Just my opinion.

You have three solid options for a street drag radial on 20's. MT ET Street DR in 305 NT05R in 315 555R Drag radial in 305 Order: Traction (Stickiest first): MT ET Street, NT05R, 555R Wet Traction/hydroplane resistance (Best first): 555R, MT ET Street, NT05R Wear (Best to worst): 555R, MT ET Street, NT05R The MT ET Street are by far the best hooking tire in 20's right now. |

I did search actually but I didn't get the direct answer I'm looking for, it shouldn't matter if it was covered 100s of times, I answer everything on here if I got knownlegde of it whether or not it has been posted before. It does not make since to give people hell about searching on here for something when its just easier to type what you know and move forward. This isn't directed towards you but it seems this site tends to have trolls that say the very same thing. And sometimes there is new information avaliable then a post that might have been posted a year ago about the subject. Moving on, how do you like you MTs as far a corning performance? Do they lose some of that compared to tires like the GYs and MPSS.
