The Mailslot

How do you remove the rubber from the mail slot henceforth making it effective?

I'm pretty sure that you cannot make the mailslot effective because the radiator is directly behind it.

Correct.

Directly behind the "mailslot" is the hood latch mechanism and behind that is the support for the radiator and the whole front end of the car.

Not yet practical to do fresh air in the mailslot. However, I painted in my mailslot and removed the plastic insert first. Remove all the plug type retainers holding the metal hood latch mechanisim and the plastic front facia. I think about eight plugs. now, you can pull up on facia and with hand begin to release the six long plastic catches. They release up and down and alternate. IE, first one releases up, next one down, next up, next down and so forth. Hardest part is geting your hand or a tool in there to encourage the tang to release. After I got it out I ground down slightly the six tangs that retain the insert. Will make it easier removing next time if I decide to paint in mailslot again. I included a pic of the car below. Good luck.

So whats the point in the mailslot? just for the look? cuz I remember when the car first came out, they were all like "an extra hood scoop for better air circulation bla bla bla", either way I want this hood attached at the bottom here, if anyone knows what it is called and who makes it and where I can get it please let me know

It's purely aesthetic, and the concept car featured the mailslot vent, so they put it on the production car in keeping with their plan to make the production car as much of a carbon-copy of the concept as they could. I don't remember them claiming anything about air circulation, though....

And I can't help you on the hood attached below. There are a couple companies on the forum I know that are making a similar-styled hood, but I don't remember their names. Sorry.:(

you could remove the factory black plastic insert, which i did and cut it open. It will let a little air in but i did it more for cosmetics. The stock piece just looks cheap to me.

At one point, it was intended to be functional but that didn't make it to the production car.
