how much horsepower from mods?
Hello everyone!!!
I have so many questions...I'm planning to get my camaro in a few weeks. I was wondering how much rwhp I can get from these mods. ARH headers SLP X-pipe with a loudmouth system, vararam CAI,160 thermosat. I'm looking to add about 80 to 90 hp is this possible?

From what I'm reading around the forum your guess might be right, but I highly doubt more than that. All depends on your tune.
Search the forums and see what you can find! there are so many threads with the kind of info. you are looking for! and congrats for your car! enjoy it! |

80-90 is overestimating a bit...probably more likely around 60-65hp.
are you also getting a tune? You'll probably need one w/ headers, especially if you're not running cats. some tuners require it for their tuning...but yes, without a tune...don't bother.

Its not required for tuning. Its basically the shops preference if they want to use it or not. And with longtubes, exhaust, Cai and tune you're probably looking at 45-50 rwhp gain. If you want 90 more hp you'll need a cam. But even then it will be close. Just get a supercharger. It will give you an instant 100 hp and would probably be cheaper then going with all those other mods.

You should be around 415rwhp with the mods listed in a manual car and a tune. A cam could definatly get you to your goal.

Exactly, you definitley will not be close to the 80-90rwhp range with those mods. closer to 40-50. The cam would play a big part, Picking up a tuner and getting a custome dyno tune would be money well spent and go a long way in getting you closer to your goal.

I don't know. ARH headers+exhaust with no tune adds about 30+hp and I just saw a ARH+exhaust car gain 28hp with a Vararam unit. So ARH + VR = almost 60hp. Add a tune for 15hp and your there at 75hp. I think you can get close.

im pretty sure that when the manufacture gets the dyno results on a product, it is just for that one product, with everything else being stock. meaning headers might give you 30 and exhaust might give you 28 but used together you're more likely to see a gain closer to 35 vs 58

First are you getting a LS3 or l99, you will get about 50-60 RWHP with ARH 1 7/8" and SLP X-pipe with a loudmouth system + vararam + tune any more then that will take a cam.

But like I said earlier, it would probably be better just to go with a supercharger. My exhaust headers and cai cost a combined $2700ish. Add a cam and labor/tuning costs and you're probably in the $6000ish and up range. For slightly more money you could gain at least 100hp with the supercharger.
