Here's a break-down of the models and options:

LS - Base, steel wheels, cloth seats, 304 HP V6
1LT - Can get any option the fully loaded one has except leather, 304 HP V6
2LT- The same as the 1LT except comes with leather, 304 HP V6
1SS - The same as the 1LT except with a 400-426 HP V8 (depending on auto/manual)
2SS - The same as the 2LT except with a 400-426 HP V8 (depending on auto/manual)

Hope this somewhat helps, you can get the base LS with the stripes if that's what your looking for, any options in specific you like/want?

One of the LT's sounds like what you need

I would rather give myself a vasectomy with a rusty nail than drive a volt, or any hybrid for that matter

Not meaning to be intrusive but we need your budget to tell you which one you should buy

Since pre owned is what your looking for here is some food for thought.
Camaro 2010 - very hot and great looking car not many pre owned on the lots or new ones for that matter. All of that equals higher price for pre owned. Give the Camaro a year the newness will settle down and become more reasonable as pre owned.
Mustang 2010 - Ford rounded it off too much and made it ugly but still a very cool car. 2008 & 2009 look better and you can find them everywhere at reasonable prices.
Horsepower go with the Camaro SS no contest untill you throw the Shelby GT500 into the mix.
Fuel mileage go with the V-6 in both Camaro & Mustang
Ultimate Fuel economy Chevy VOLT will obviously blow Camaro & Mustang away. When the VOLT hits the lots dealers will mark them way up unless you find and honest dealer. The VOLT will revolutionize the car industry.

Chevy Volt isn't due until November of next year...and if you're looking for performance, the Volt isn't it. The Volt's meant to be the stepping stone between gas and electric cars.
