Bbk headers
I am. Thinking of doing BBK long tubes with the cats. My question is are those cats going to keep my CEL off or is it a waste? I’m trying to not tune it yet. I have a 2015 SS with Automatic tranny. Thanks for any info

A large portion of hi flow cats can still trigger an engine light.

A good tuner can turn them off so you don't get any CEL's

If you get long tube headers with or without cats you will eventually get a CEL. The reason for it is 2 fold: 1) You have relocated the O2 sensors further away from the engine so the front O2 sensor will read differently than the factory says it should; and 2) The flow between O2 #1 and O2 #2 is different than factory settings (greater) so that will trigger the CEL.
If you're not wanting to tune right away you can either drive around with a CEL which is fine for a while, but you don't really want to beat on the car too badly as it is not running optimally. However, especially with an automatic transmission you will not regret a properly done tune. The factory trans tunes on these cars is extremely lazy and once you get a quality tune you will experience a whole different animal or a car!
