Quick driver's side mirror question

Just bought a 2SS, and the yellow-tint on the driver's side mirror is throwing me off. I used to have a 1LS where it didn't have any features, is it normal for my mirror to always have this yellow tint?

I thought it should only tint at night when headlights hit it?

Or bright sunlight.

Looks like it's in direct sunlight, which is a hell of a lot brighter than headlights.

It looks like they day/night mirror is stuck on. AFAIK The 2SS/2LT both have an auto dimming driver side and rear view mirror. It should get darker when it's dimming, and should be basically clear when not. You might need to look into a replacement. I think a few people have done so on the forums.

as an aside, I've never noticed mine dimming in bright daylight light, just headlights.

To have the mirrors aimed correctly, my driver mirror is pointed way left and so it catches headlights or sunlight ALL THE TIME. That's only a slight exaggeration. It auto-dims a lot... it annoys me, but I just bought the oracle concept mirrors that will go on at some point.

I thought mine was more of a bluish/greyish tint though, yellow seems odd to me. I'll look at mine again.

Mine has a very deep gray look when it's dimming.

At least that's what I think it does...

It's always like this, although I haven't driven in the dusk yet.

Yeah I was thinking it might be stuck on, didn't know if they were just tinted like this normally though and still got darker at night.

The yellow seemed odd to me too. All of my other car's electrochromic glass was blueish gray too.

Yeah, mine is grey/blue when dimming, not yellow.

OK, looks like there is something wrong with the mirror then. It doesn't bother me enough to warrant replacing it yet, but if I come across one for cheap, maybe I'll pull the trigger.

I also haven't driven the car at night yet, so maybe I'll change my mind if it affects the way it dims too.

Thanks everyone.

I believe the sideview mirrors are controlled by the light sensor in the rearview mirror and are not individually controlled. Over time they can get a burned in or stained look to them and it's not abnormal to be able to see that in the bright daylight. That does look like a little excessive coloring to me, but it doesn't look like it's dimmed. You could test it at night by shining a flashlight on your rearview mirror.

Yeah it's a deep yellow. Reminds me of those yellow glasses that people wear to help with computer eye-strain. It's weird looking in my clear rearview and then this yellow mirror while merging.
