Cleaning microfiber towels
Just bought a bunch of good microfiber towels. I see they sell special detergent to wash MF towels. Does anyone use it or is a free and clear regular laundry detergent just as good?

I just wash them with good laundry detergent on hot, and dry normal in the dryer without a dryer sheet. They always look fine. I'm sure others here have a far more detailed way.

I started to use that cheer free and clear, I made up a spray bottle with the same stuff but diluted it for a prewash spray, I am learning that its better to air dry the towels because the dryer tends to melt the fibers especially my waterless wash towels, also double rinse seems to be a good thing as well.

If you do want to use microfiber detergent, I use Chemical Guys brand.

Washing in All Free and Clear and drying on low heat is the combo I use for my MF towels.

A free and clear detgerent works well. I recommend drying on a low setting. (If putting in the dryer.) Every once in a while I put vinegar into the fabric sofenter dispenser. Im not entirely sure I’ve noticed a difference...

I also wash on normal with free and clear detergent, add 1 cup of white vinegar in softener dispenser. Dry on delicate and if still moist, hang to dry. I’ll pretreat any heavily soiled towels with an APC and let sit overnight. I also try not to mix colors.
I’ll also sometimes throw a heavily soaked large terry bath towel in dryer and run on normal to help remove/absorb any softener from dryer sheets used on previous runs. Learned this from a mom that her one of her kids were allergic to fabric softeners. I used microfiber detergents for a year and never noticed any difference. |

I wash them separate from everything else and that's it. I hang dry. Done.

MF should never be washed with Cottons or anything else, always wash separately. No fab softeners, either. I hang to dry or tumble on low with no dryer sheet.

Here's what I do...
Inspecting for and removing debris (bug parts, bits of flora) will avoid accidental scratching and swirling. Fabric softeners are basically wax and will streak on glass and paint. Ziplock storage keeps the towels from picking up sand/dust/debris because Garage-Life(tm) happens. |

I wash mine separate with Tide on hot, out in dryer on low heat. Mine always look and feel in great condition.

I use mine, and toss them. Wal-Mart sell new ones cheap and I don't have to risk it. Now my Adams products, I use their special cleaner for that.
