Camaro’s Future
Does Camaro have a future, and if so what will it be? Let’s here everyone’s take on the subject. My guess is it stays till the end of 2023, with minor cosmetic changes, but receives a motor upgrade to keep some interest. Here’s where it gets interesting. In 2024 is the car dead but the name survives, or do they mothball Camaro forever, or just until the new all electric platform is ready to be released in 2025? Can you say Camaro Cross, I hope not.

Please keep the name for the class of car that it is.
I don't want to see a Camaro SUV, Sedan or Truck lol.

If the Camaro fails the responsibility falls squarely on the shoulder of GM.
For many years GM has failed to promote vehicles then cancelled them due to lack of sales. Many of these vehicles only lasted several years, not even long enough for their name to really get known. GM should follow the example of Chrysler and their tire smoking Challenger and Charger ads. If they did similar with the Camaro you can bet the sales would increase.

I loved those commercials. My brother had the poster of the Black WS6 from that marketing campaign on his wall. That is one of the best look cars ever made.

thanks for posting those videos...the dealership I work for used to be a Pontiac dealer. Will always love Pontiacs. A white 02 Trans Am is what made me love cars in white.

My guess is the Camaro will end production in 2023. It's sad but rumors started on this about a year ago. The coronavirus situation probably made things even worse now. Any research/development on the 7th gen Camaro is probably on hold (if GM was even planning a 7th gen Camaro).
The sales numbers of the Camaro are horrible too. Both Mustang and Challenger are killing the Camaro in sales. Sales have been going down for a long time and it started way before the coronavirus. If the Camaro stops production again, it will be strange to not have a relatively cheap, RWD, V8 performance car from GM. I think it would be foolish for GM to not have a competitor against the Mustang/Challenger. Yes, the Camaro didn't exist between 2003 and 2009 but the GTO filled in for the Camaro during some of those years.

Good topic. I've also heard about the Camaro going away 2022-23 but I think it will fall on what Dodge and Ford do. If you ask me, we really lucked out. I'm glad there are more Mustangs and Challengers than Camaros. It makes them that much rarer. I get the "What kind of car is that" question A LOT. If what they say is true about the electric cars by 2025, I don't see the muscle car category going the way of electric. I also don't want a cross Camaro or SVU with a plug. I'm sure there would be concessions for ALL owners of gas autos that would keep them on the road another 20 years or so. Unless the government wants to buy me an electric Lamborghini, I'm keeping my Camaro. Even then, the Lamorghini would be my daily driver and the Camaro gets the garage

I've been reading car magazines since the 70s. I remember the days when you'd see full page ads for Camaros in Car and Driver. I can't remember the last time I've seen one. It's been years...and I get it every month.
Bottom line is that GM simply doesn't push their performance vehicles like they used to. And honestly, I don't think GM has really done a very good job on a lot of things over the past 20-30 years. |

IMOP I think the performance is there. I just think that they look terrible. My opinion only. Make it retro again like a second or third gen with the performance that it has now and then I think that sales will take off again. Just my opinion.
