What's your exhaust ground clearance?
So the other day I spot a buddy in town as I'm driving by. Since he's a car guy too I decide to nail the gas and show off a little. Much to my surprise he said when I nailed the gas and went over a buckle in the pavement there was a huge shower of sparks. I never knew because my car is loud.
So when I got home I decided to see what caused it. Some quick measuring showed me that I only have 3 inches of clearance on the exhaust in two places. I run 18" wheels so I'm already 1" lower than stock. I was planning on installing lowering springs next summer but now I'm worried I'll have lots of issues. Anybody else sitting at 3" or less? Any issues? |

What do you mean, your 18" wheels have lowered the ground clearance? What size tires do you have?
Where is the lowest point? By the diff, headers or somewhere else? Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk |

I am on coilovers with a nearly 1.75 inch drop and have low hanging header collectors. The only time I have ever had a clearance issue was doing 85mph on a highway that had some uneven pavement sections, causing the car to undulate up and down for a second or two, hitting the collectors.
But around town, over speed bumps and crappy roads? No issues as long as you drive normally and are aware of the conditions.

My tires are 285/40/18 so 2" less diameter than stock 20's which yields a 1" less ride height. The lowest points are the right side collector and one of the hangars in back. |

My collectors drag on speed bumps. I’ve yet to go over any with my cutouts but I’m sure they won’t like it either.

I'm on 20" with 1.4 drop springs. I rub a lot on speed bumps, an have to be very mindful of the terrain. I'm guessing my clearance is 4"
Neighborhood kids were driving RC cars in front of my house a few weeks ago and one of the toys got stuck under my car.

Running ZL1 wheels wrapped in 285/35 R20 front and 305/30 R20 rear, long tubes and cutouts, coilovers at 1 inch drop. Has me sitting 1.75 inches lower measured from the fenders. The lowest points are my collectors and cutouts sitting roughly 2.5 inches above the ground. Have to be very careful where I enter and what speed bumps are ahead. Have had two bad experiences where my cutouts have gotten me stuck and had to be pushed out. While driving on canyons I've been told by trailing cars that on rough patches or little drops in elevation they have seen sparks be shot underneath my car.
