Question ONSTAR QUESTION..

For us folks out here that have ONSTAR in our cars, and use it, I only use mine for the turn by turn navigation function as it works really well where ever I have traveled to. Have any of you heard anything about an upgrade or something that GM is going to do to allow these cars with ONSTAR to continue working as most cell providers are slowly dropping ALL 3G devices from the network, and I think these cars are 3G. Let us know what you have heard, or know if you did. Thanks much..

GM upgraded mine to 4G in 2020. Doesn't help that they have discontinued map updates for 2015 and earlier models though.

Received an email from OnStar. They are disabling OnStar in cars that have 2 & 3G networks on 12-31-2022. Your only option is to use the OnStar App which does not include turn-b-turn navigation. I guess they know that most drivers use Waze anyway. Hope this helps.

Just means the remote start from phone, and fob features from phone will be disabled too.
