I used RaggTopp on my Corvette convertibles with good luck. I haven't done anything with this one. I have a fabric lint brush that I use to brush it but it's going to be stored inside and used in fair weather so I don't feel I need it.
You can look at Autogeek and they have a revire/how to video on the site.

With a few convertibles on here with rubber/glue bleed through, I'm not sure I would use a cleaner on the top. Just a fabric water repellant.

+1 on Gunkk's original post. I followed it, worked great.
Might sound like it might take a long time, but by using the roller there's very little chance of dripping anything where it shouldn't get to. Also, since you're standing up the whole time, I swear it feels like *less* of a PITA than hand-cleaning the brake dust off the wheels. (Nope, haven't switched to the Powerstop pads yet.) You can usually find the two-bottle kit for a very reasonable price on either Amazon (or maybe Walmart); IIRC I pretty much used up one whole bottle, but only about half of the other, so next time I might just buy a single of the one I used, and empty out the half-full one in the process.

I taped off the rear window and only used it on the big areas for an initial cleaning. From this point on I'll only be using the protectant to seal and repel.

As a "victim" of this convertible top issue, I'm not convinced the cleaners are the cause. I've used both Raggtopp and 303 Aerospace cleaners on my top since new. If the cleaners were a major cause for whatever is happening to my top, I would expect my entire top be affected, not just various spots on the driver's side. These are old pics. Most, if not all, of the spots have grown in size, and there are probably some new spots.

Brush off the chunks and loose stuff. Spot clean with soap and water.
Best thing about the 303/Ragtop is that the fabric is sealed so the "wet" bits don't really get into the top's fibers too much before they dry. Dirt, dust, pollen blobs, bird droppings mostly just wipe off with a dry paper towel or come off with the cheapo sticky-peel-off lint roller. |

Did you spray it on to the roller or pour it in the tray like paint? How heavy/thick/thin did you put it on the top? The bottle talks about direct sunlight? Just asking because how ever you did the roller application seems to have worked great! |

Keep a clean MF rag or two handy for the inevitable drips. You DO NOT want this stuff drying on the paint or glass or anything. It's like clear coat. But you want it soaked into the fabric, not sprayed all over the place, so... 1. Unscrew and remove the spray nozzle, throw it in the trash and never touch it again. 2. Pour 1/4 of the bottle 303 into the paint roller pan. 3. Use the roller like you are painting. If you've ever painted with a roller, you know. If you haven't, watch a video Slow and steady with light pressure. You want it to wet the fabric enough to soak in (and it will) but not drip. 4. Do half the top (I did driver side first). 5. Pour another 1/4 of the bottle in the tray. 6. Do the other side while it dries. 7. 3rd quarter of the bottle for coat #2 on the first side. It'll still be very slightly tacky, and that's OK. 8. Remaining 25% for second coat on the second side. One full bottle did two complete coats. Last edited by Gunkk; 10-26-2022 at 11:51 PM. |
