ZL1 for sale on Facebook
There is a 2023 ZL1 listed on Facebook that I'm pretty sure is a scam. I contacted the guy just to see what response I would get. I asked for the last 6 on the VIN. He sent me a picture of a portion of the title showing the VIN. I looked it up but it shows it to be a 1LT convertible. Could it be a fake title?

Now I am really confused. He sent me pictures of the window VIN and the one on the door. They match the title. Could the 2023 Camaro Build Info spreadsheet have the VIN listed with the wrong information?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=2029393568 EDIT: I looked the VIN op of two other sites. Both show it to be a ZL1. I guess the spreadsheet here mixed the info up with another car. Last edited by jfkheat; 03-02-2024 at 12:20 AM. |

The spreadsheet doesn't have much wrong information
The VIN ending in 156138 for 2023 is a 1LT Convertible as you noticed. The VIN on that title is not real, https://experience.gm.com/ownercente...FK1R60P0156138 There is no information from GM, normally a real VIN will 'decode' through that site for recall/warranty check for example mine: https://experience.gm.com/ownercente...FH1R78N0102770 He's most likely got a stolen car.

I posted in the general forums about a stolen ZL1 Carvana sold, the fake VIN shows up on VIN decoders but that’s because it’s just got the right formatting and check digit for the VIN which can be calculated easily.

I would venture to say that this Camaro is stolen and the title is a fake one too!

I just looked closer at the window VIN. The 38 font at the end look different than the rest of the numbers. There is a ZL1 with a VIN only a couple cars away from this one that matches what this car looks like. 1G1FK1R60P0156141 It looks like someone changed the 41 to 38 in the window VIN. The door tag looks like the font matches so whoever changed it did a better job.

I had a similar experience with a Challenger I was asked to look at for a friend. VIN came back clean and carfax even was clean, however no original window sticker could be found. When I called a Dodge dealership to run the VIN it came back as not real, you could try your hand at contacting a dealership saying you aren’t sure but would like to verify. I still do believe it’s 100% stolen though

Probably wasn't a good idea to discuss these details in an open forum...
