Muffler Delete, Do You Recommend It?
Well, I still can't decide what I'm gonna do. I was thinking about getting the SLP Loudmouth II and that costs about $500-$600. I don't have a job right now, so I don't have that kind of money to spend on my car. My other option is to remove the mufflers and that costs about a $100, and I can afford that. BUT... I really don't like it when it starts pooping and it would probably cost a bit more to tune it to reduce the popping. So to the people who have done the muffler delete: do you recommend it? Does it pop a lot without tuning? And are you satisfied with the sound? Or should I wait to get a job, make some money and then get the SLP?

I replaced the H-pipe, resonator section with a X-pipe. The sound is just a bit louder than stock and cost less than $200, depending on who does it. Absolutely no drone either. This is on a A6 car too.

I originally did it on SS A6, it was great compared to stock (I thought), but terrible compared to my SOLO mach X catback. The AFM drone was absolutely hideous with the mufflers cut off the bubbling when you let of the throttle was annoying to say the least.
Just my experience.

Muffler delete pops a ton, it's a great sound mod for $60 but it's a sloppy sound, don't expect a corsa/longtube sound!

I just got my car back yesterday from having it done with a magnaflow x pipe and Solo tips as well. it sounds amazing! yes there is a lot of popping but IMO i think its great and if it gets annoying at some point during decelleration just throw it in nuetral and its gone. The car sounds like there is a lot more done to the car than actualy is...just exhaust. i will try and post a vid and pics after work today.

They say it can be reduced with a tune but not eliminated completely.

This question is asking someone if they like Coke or Pepsi. Everything is relative to every individual. To me the muffler delete sounds awesome and beat the heck out of paying $500 for a straight pipe with SLP written on it when I paid $80 for a straight pipe with no writing on it. Just do it and see if you like it.

The part # for the polished stainless steel resonated X-Pipe is 14386 and the stainless satin resonated X-Pipe is part # 11386 I have both of these parts in stock and you can use coupon code Special1 to receive a discount plus free shipping. It's a cheaper option and it will have the sound you're looking for. It would also be cheaper than an axle-back system and perform better because of the x-pipe. Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions. Have a happy holiday! Kind regards, Last edited by JDP Motorsports; 12-28-2009 at 12:42 PM. |

Muffler delete FTW!!! I love mine and would never spend the money on an axle back(and I can definetly afford it) and it sounds better then an axleback.
