if you go too easy on it; meaning don't get that little bit of needed wear to mate the parts; some of them will always fit a little too tight, which means added friction, which means it won't perform as well as it should if you go too hard, you get too much wear and or could actually damage parts by overheating them; so long term life expectancy could be reduced I think both of these are in the extreme, and for practical purposes it probably doesn't make much difference |

I got the 2LT and my only problem is it will only do about 148 mph. I love the blue tooth, the heated seats and the heated mirrors. I also got the auto so I also love the auto start it has. It gets great gas mileage also so I can't complain at all. It is everything I wanted and more. I'm not a gear head and it is fast enough to get me from point "A" to point "B" and still turn heads and bring everyone from kitchen to the drive up window checking it out. There are lots of people that love this car that's for sure.
I think if I had the V8 I would have already piled up a few tickets for lot's of different things like PQ and a few of the others. |

Raw performance is very important to me so I went with the 2SS. With that being said, I often think about the fact that the guys that bought first gens new had to debate between big block and small block. The big blocks were cool for sure, but there was nothing wrong at all with the small block either (still isn't) I know it may seem crazy, but I think we all have the same debate as they did back then....

Sorry, I got caught up in reading the thread and after posting noticed that the title was "Looking for input from V-6 owners". I am not a V-6 owner so maybe I shouldn't have posted....

It depends on what you want to do with the car I think. I have always had V8’s but will probably get the V6. I have an ‘07 Mustang GT now and its my daily driver, not a show car or for special occasions or anything like that. When gas was at $5 a gallon I felt like throwing up every time I had to fill up. That was regular too, not the high octane stuff. Also I think around 300hp is the reasonable extent of what you can safely drive in the winter. Difficult, but doable. With 400hp I think your dancing with the devil at that point. Some people buy winter beaters, which is a solution, but I’ve never like the idea of spending an extra $5000 + registration, insurance, etc so I can drive a junker while my $35,000 car sits in the garage for 6 months. Though honestly I can’t tell you won’t miss the V8. The sound, the feel, and the sense you’re driving something special. I really can’t give you any practical reason why you should buy the V8, because its not a practical choice, but there is just something about it. Like I’ve said, I have always had V8’s, so the novelty has worn a little thin and actually I’m more intrigued by the concept of owning a high tech 6 and making some modifications to it with the $ left over. Though I’d say if you truly want the SS you won’t be “as” happy with the V6.

I have a 2LT/RS and love it.
It has lots of power and is good on gas.If you want a daily driver the V6 is all you need, 304 HP is more than you can use on the road.I have a 1969 Z/28 it is a great car but you can't use the HP it has on the road and keep the Police away. Just get a V6 and load it up. |

I originally went to the dealership in Dallas looking at a IBM 1SS.
I test drove the 6spd Manual 1SS then I saw the 2LT/RS IBM with the 6 spd manual and test drove that. I like the 1SS just for the V8 alone but it was plain (No sunroof, cloth interior, etc.) and I like the 2LT/RS because with the 6spd manual I really liked the power plus it was loaded (Leather, Sunroor, 20's, etc.). I was torn so I talked to my wife and she said just pick one. I ended up picking the 1SS and sitting in finance ready to sign the papers I told them that I changed my mind and wanted the 2LT/RS. I love the V6 becuase around here when and where am I going to need the V* and I didn't want to pay the extra money for the SS in car payment, gas and insurance. whichever one you decide on you won't be disappointed. |

$3.00 per gallon for GAS and it's only going up! The end of V8 is upon us.

I have a 2LT/RS and I love it I could have opted for a 2SS/RS but she would be my show/trailer queen sitting next to my 2001 Z/28 (show/trailer queen) I wanted something to have fun, daily driver, ect.. and this car has everything I wanted.

A couple years ago it was pushing $4.50 for regular in places. People paid it. They'll pay it again and they'll pay $5, $6, $7 or more when the time comes. Which it will.
