such a waste because of poor judgement - bad decisions (drinking, driving at excessive speeds in poor conditions) equalled the ultimate consequence

My best friend died as a passenger in car being driven by another friend who was drunk. He missed a 90° turn on a country road doing 50mph+ and hit a 100 year old oak tree head on. I had planned to be in the car with them that day but my new born daughter got sick and I had to stay home. One friend dead and one friend convicted of vehicular manslaughter. No good can come of Drinking and driving.

I have no tollerance for this kind of stuff...nobody wins.

By the look of that door, I doubt that the driver lives. He may have gotten out of the car...but they did not cut him out of the driver's side, so I would assume that after impacting the tree he was thrown to the other side of the car against the passenger.

My prayers go out to those left behind.

I understand people want to look "cool" pulling up to the club or the bar in a fancy car but its not worth what people can care less about.

Get a taxi to go party people!

Completely agree, unforunately it's not always that simple. Where I grew up in Ohio there were no taxis - your only option to get home is to drive home or get a designated driver. Not that I'm making excuses, I avoided accidents by simply not drinking if I wasn't staying at a friend's house or have someone sober to drive me home.

But on a side note I have travelled the world and constantly hear about people here blaming alcohol and young kids - really there's two problems

1) we baby teenagers so much, making 21 legal drinking age, and make alcohol such a big deal, then wonder why they abuse it. ex) in Europe it's very common to drink with you rfamily and friends when you're 16. When you're in US and under 21 nobody wants their parents to know, parents don't want to get in trouble, so they hide it. When you hide alcohol you're more likely to drive home and 'sneak back home'.

2) horrible public transportation - in Philly I"m okay now, but living in smaller cities (40-50,000 people), there's little or no public transportation. If we were smart and has buses running, more subways etc. there would be a lot less accidetns.

I feel bad for everyone in the accident, but I hate discussing ways to solve drunk driving until my two points have been fixed, because I think without them it's not going to get any better. just IMO.

This is such a shame! I wish that people would quit drinking & driving. I did this foolishly for about 3years. Then my cousin died in DUI wreck and three more friends suffered the same fate. At this time I realized I have adaughter who needs me to grow up and start making better descisions! I'm just lucky I had the oppertunity to make this choice before it is to late. Now what scares me is the innocent victims of DUI wrecks. Sorry to rant & rave over this but I really pray for everyone to grow up and realize that drinking & driving is good for no one. But regardless I hate seeing someone loose there life when they really shouldn't have.
