In descending order, I think it will be the discontinuation of 1 or more brands, the Chrysler merger, or least likely chapter 11.

While we are all worried about the Camaro and the affect of these announcements on its production, let us not forget all the GM employees who will be impacted by whatever happens. Please think of them and their families while they go through these difficult times. I really want my Camaro and I hope that its re-emergence helps to re-invigorate the company.

Please tell me I'll still be able to get my Camaro. Seriously though, this is not looking good for everyone.

I am very, very concerned about this report tomorrow. The fact that it's actually been delayed by two days makes me wonder just how bad the news is...if it was good news, Lutz and Wagoner would have announced it already.
Chapter 11 is not likely, as Wagoner stated that it's not an option. Killing brands is very likely... Chrysler merger? No idea.

Has anyone heard anything from fbodfather about this? Would he be able to give us a clue either way? This is getting me worried now. Not to sound selfish, but I want my Camaro, but I'm also concerned about the possible thousands that may face layoff.

These are my opinions relating to the current market and GM...
Pickup truck, large SUV's build will be reduced dramatically possible plant shut-downs, Gov't nixed any fed help financing merger, but that's still up in the air, BANKRUPTCY IS NOT AN OPTION! The Camaro is still a go....They have to slow production because vehicles (especially large vehicles) aren't selling, but they're not going anyplace soon. Rumor has it GMAC may be eliminated.

I completely agree. Also I just cannot see GM declaring ch 11 bankruptcy before ford or chrsyler, at least at this point. I think they will be shutting down or cutting production in the truck/large suv factories. |

We'll know tomorrow. Like He's always said. "Keep the faith." The Camaro is too far along to just be cancelled.

With all the general has invested in the Camaro including but not limited to this weeks SEMA, Transformer movies, not to mention the bright future it has, I can't imagine it getting the axe.
I can see some of GM's light trucks and SUVs getting cut. As much as I love the Avalanche it's unnecessary in GM's lineup. Do we need a Tahoe, Trailblazer and Equinox?I could see one of those disappearing. There are plenty more unnecessary models in GM's lineup. I don't think there's any need to worry about the Camaro going anywhere any time soon. |

GM has far too much money sunk into the Camaro development to cancel it even within the next couple of years (how many millions did they invest in Oshawa for reconstruction and retooling for Zeta?)
I have every confidence that the Camaro is safe for the forseeable future. But I do think there will be massive cuts. The pink elephant in the room of that press conference is the discussions with Chrysler that GM can no longer avoid - they seem to have dodged all the questions (no pun intended) thus far, but tomorrow Wagoner is going to HAVE to comment on the specifics. |
