What did you think about the '06 STI?

I'll stick to my 06 since it is a sedan and despite somewhat benefits of the hatch, you can never change the overall shape with a kit.

never been a fan of the imports. Somehow the sound of a chainsaw never equated to performance to me. and then the body kits . . . and wings . . . At least the monster wing on the superbird/charger daytona actually did something when you got up to speed, but most of those things on the back of the little imports add weight, drag, and look stupid. So I guess I actually have more of a problem with what people do to the cars. To those that actually put an effort into making the car go faster I salute you. Those that just make their car look like its fast . And as far as dodge goes, I have no problems. And with ford, lets just say that the mustang is one of the only cars that they ever got right

I'd agree with imports that try to look fast but there are some out there that will do circles around most domestics. Those are the ones I have respect for. As a STI owner, nothing sickens me more then seeing some rusted, primered, fugly bodykit, high pitched lawnmower exhausted honda's trying to race me.
Iam a automotive enthusiast.... import or domestic.... just as long as its built right. |

It's not just imports with the bad accents. Look at the Ion Redline and Cobalt. 2 cars that I love but loathe that stupid wing. I actually had a Chevy salesman tell me that the big wing on the Cobalt served a purpose. He said I'd see at speed what it did. Yeah, I did. It blocked my view out of the rear view mirror where a cop would be. That car was no more powerful than my SI with it's NA mods and the Si doesn't have a big drag spoiler on the rear. Cars don't have rumble seats anymore, so they sure don't need park benches on the trunk.

Well the spoiler does have serve a purpose but nothing until you hit 100+mph, you shouldnt be hitting those speeds on the street anyways. Even for fwd cars it will keep the rearend planted around high speed turns. Granted that almost all cars on the road with spoilers will never see these speeds or even tracked so they are worthless.
I personally have two trunks for my sti.... my dd is wingless and my track has the stock huge wing on it. |

Thank you... its sad that sooo many people bash imports when they have no idea what they can do. I understand that 80% of the imports owners out there gives us 20% owner a bad name with there stupid street racing and nasty bodykits.
Yes my car has a spud gun exhaust but it doesnt sound like a weedeater turning 10k rpms...... Ive had cops, bikers, and ect of people say my car sounds great (also comment that it sounds like a harley with the deep tone it has). :tweetz: |

That being said, you are correct in that 90% of the cars on the road have absolutely no purpose for the aerodynamics they have on them. |

Now come on. Your a car enthusiast right ? No need to bash another muscle car. Or as they categorize them. I came to this site expecting a different attitude but I see it here as well. Congrats.

Ha ha, it's all in good fun. I only have two problems with Mustangs:
1. There's way too many of them out there. 2. Some of them just look really boring. Where's the muscle? These two factors have caused the Mustang, in my mind, to lose whatever it was that made it special. I grew up in a small town where there was only one or two mustangs and that was the car I wanted for a looong time. I ended up finding a used Camaro that I could afford first, and even though that car caused my nothing but hassles, here I am. There's just something about the Camaro that says strength, honesty, and never giving in, whereas the Mustang is a little to commercial, let's-build-one-for-everybody, for my liking. However, if there were no Mustang, there would be no one to have this little rivalry with. The rivalry is part of what makes both these cars great! |
