Prove it, I don't think the final gear matters as much as your saying because the 6 speed auto in the V6 Mustang is aggressive geared and has a 4.171 first gear

2nd 2.340
3rd 1.521
4th 1.143
5th 0.867
6th 0.691
Final drive 2.73 or 3.31

And all 2011 V6's Mustangs come standard with limited slip differential, unlike the one legger tire fryer in V6 auto Camaro

The gear ratios in the 6 speed auto Camaro V6 are as follows:

1st 4.07
2nd 2.37
3rd 1.55
4th 1.16
5th 0.85
6th 0.67
Final drive 3.27

So they are closing matched between the two. Which brings it down to the rear gear ratio, weight, HP, and driver. Until they are lined up on the same day, same track, and at the same time this debate could go on until HELL freezes over.

One other thing, if the Camaro is a one legger tire fryer then someone better explain this:

11.38 for the mustang, 13.30 to the Camaro(multiply first gear by rear gear). The 3.31's offered as an upgrade brings it to 13.80.
What is the v6 mustang weighing in at?

3473 according ford media guide (for the Automatic).......... another source has it like this ........ weighs almost exactly the same as it did last year (somewhere just north of 3,400 pounds)

LT Camaro V6 is 3750

equates to 0.3 seconds in the 1/4 just on weight alone.

In essence the slowest Camaro is faster than the slowest Mustang.

I don't know where you're getting your info from, but you are 100% wrong... gears are a 400 dollar option and that's all it would really need..

Your 430 whp is at a lower rpm than his, so you still have more power available under the curve. His power peaks at (guessing) say 6700 rpm, and he has to shift at 6900, so his use of all that power is a bit limited. You should be producing your 430 whp at around 5900, and you shift at 6600. Plus, you are most likely making a good amount more power from about 4000-6000, it is the extra rpm that gets him the "matching" whp. Just saying I won't be surprised if you win.

When both tires have even traction BOTH tires will spin. The fact that we have IRS makes it easier for the tires to sit even and have even traction, hence we can get twin tracks pretty easily in parking lots... HOWEVER more often than not I will only spin one tire in the water box....

And actually I noticed this last weekend at Lapeer... Started my burnout and both tires started spinning. Apparently the drivers side developed more traction than the passenger side and the driver's side tire stopped spinning while the passenger side just kept on spinning...

so yes, we definitely have an open differential... we just seem to be able to get both tires to spin more easily than you can with a live axle...

Part of the reason the Camaro weighs more is that it is longer and wider.

Still, it's just shy of 300 pounds difference. That's a LOT of weight and I don't care how much longer/wider we are. If you think they aren't adding lightweight skinnies and doing the same things we are you are wrong.

This is going to turn into another"I love mustang thread" and I wish they'd take it to the "I love mustang forum". I don't cruise their sites trolling. Maybe they still wish they could see a bowtie on their ride so they come here?

actually it started out with inaccurate "fanboy" statements... read the OP statements... While I drive a Camaro now, i've owned Mustangs and other F-bodies in the past... While I don't care for the Mustang's 2010+ body style, I care even less for inaccurate and/or blanket statements with NO PROOF to back them up. The OP is a perfect example... makes claims he can't backup and makes obviously inflammatory remarks at the end.

Just because I drive a Camaro, doesn't mean I have to hate Mustangs... I happen to like a lot of Mustangs... The OP is either trolling or is a blind fanboy... the new Mustang V6 is a hell of a car... period...

Looking forward to seeing the OP timeslips from the drag strip so he can backup up his claims...

Bench racing fail. You can't base everything off the rear end ratio. You have to look at the whole picture.

I'm not even going to bother explaining why this is such a fail. Line 'em up at the track, and the outcome will not be what you expect.
