My dad would tell stories about when he was young . He said many times the guys would go down to the hoes house for a few drinks. As I got older and found out a ho was a hooker , I thought my dad had been having drinks with hookers. He failed to say they went to the hose house. Evidently way back when, in Shamokin,Pa they sold alcoholic drinks at the fire station.

My grandpa use to say you-uns instead of ya'll. He always said it was his Arkie coming out.

"Down to the bone, Jackson!" meaning 'That's exactly what we need.'

I remember the "auch now" too.

I also got "you're selling me wolf tickets" meaning I was trying to "tell a story" (translation: lie) about something

You have piqued my interest with this about "wolf tickets". Could ya' explain it to those of us who live where we don't have reference to those animals? I like the sound of it.

Thats funny cuz when I googled it I found it to be African American Slang -which makes sense cuz even though I am a pale white girl who is 1/2 german, 1/4 checz, and 1/4 Algonquin indian, my dad (who is a native Pennsylvanian) was military and I had the "blessing" of being born in the south - which I am now sure where he picked it up back in the 60's.... its funny how things stick even so many years later.....
