Angry steering shaft rubbing on 2" headers

i finished my header install today and started it up and it sounds great And then i hear something that didnt sound quite right :( when i rolled the windows up and turned the radio off i could hear something when i turn the steering wheel it sounded like a power steering pump that was low on fluid and i knew that wasnt the case so i start looking to find out what was wrong with it after a couple of mins i see that the steering shaft is hitting the second to last pipe on the drivers side i thought it wasnt hitting bad and would probley just rub enough to quit by the time i got out town but i drove 30 miles or so and its still doing it just as bad. has anyone had this problem out of the 2" stainless works headers and if so what did you do about it? im going to try to put a very small dent in that pipe and see if i can get it to clear, if i cant im going to take a file and rub a small grove in the steering shaft where it is hitting its not hitting bad so a very small grove sould take care of it without weaking the shaft no more than what it would have to come it want hurt anything but thats only if i cant dint the pipe witch i sould be able to do. any ideas other than mine? 1 7/8" headers would not have hit.

Call SW, they will explain how to fix it or get you a new one if it can't be fixed. It's happened before, to my buddies car actually. Not a big deal... Do not dent or file it!

Is it metal on metal, or are the headers hitting a big rubber boot? Also has your suspension or motor mounts been played with.

i fixed my header, stainless works would not send me another header they just told me to put a little ding in it and it would be ok witch was what i was going to do anyway but considering i still had to take the header off to fix it i thought i would try to get one that was right instead of one that was rigged up after all they were almost a 1000 dollars they should be right imo.

Wow, that is shitty service. For a grand they def should have tried to help imo. You bought one of the top tier sets of headers and you should not have to beat on them to clearance them.

If I spent a grand on heades I would be pissedthat I had to dent them, I did dent my 2" headers but I knewi would have to before I bought them. I understand that many people chose to pay a premium price for trusted name brands that should fit. I am disappointed in stainless works for not making this right for you.
