GM bankrupcy... won't affect the Camaro right??

Just worried I'll never see one... I mean, is there a confirmed number of Camaros that have been built? Will they stop production?

I want to make sure I can get one someday and not have to hunt down one of the 600 or so that made it out before the big failure!

They've already built and shipped a lot of them. People on these boards will be receiving them very soon.

There's no nice way to put this. Use the search button.

Yes, I've read posts about people who have ordered them... but that is a small number. How many have actually been built? How many have actually shipped? And how many more will be made?

If you plan on ordering soon, I wouldn't be too worried. If you are talking about 2-3 years down the road, who knows.

That's pretty much what I was wondering.

Hate to order one and then have them go under... not only no Camaro, but I'd be out the cash!

There will be lots of them made. Bankruptcy does not necessarily mean the end of GM, but the odds are that GM will not be able to sell cars being bankrupt because there is a negative stigma that buyers associate with bankrupt companies, resulting in lost sales and an inability to fairly compete in the market. The Camaro has already been built in large quantities. They will be cranking out of the factory even in the event that GM does go bankrupt until they are no longer profitable cars to make. Are you reassured now?

if it sales well the line stays open. Cost may rise from supplier costs.

But it's a bottom line thing. If the start piling up on lots like vettes are right now. Then we panic. Right now it's all looking good.

I have always belived the future of Camaro is in the hands of the entry lvl cars not the SS. The SS of course is critical and the best. But it's not what is going to make the roads just full of Camaro's. That's the goal.

GM is not going out of business, and the Camaro will continue to be built. If there are ANY safe, sure bets in the cloud of GM's pending bankruptcy, it's Chevy. Chevy and Cadillac are THE ONLY sure, 1000% guaranteed survivors of this mess.

That means, no matter what happens, the Camaro will be built, it will be sold, and there will be no problems. For the next year, the next 2 years, and yes, the next 5 years.

You can take THAT to the bank

I was supposed to wait til Jan or Feb to order but this scenario was real enough to me for me to order early. Mines been pulled and I don't feel good about it til it's been shipped.

In this case, "bankrupt" is not the same as "going out of business". It is a powerful word that strikes fear into the average person, especially when used in the media. GM is not going to stop making the Camaro any time soon, and Chevy is not going anywhere. They may be "restructuring" but they're not dropping off the face of the planet

Edit: If anything, the only thing I would worry about is this damn "green" movement eliminating the V8 as we know it. I know it's a slim chance, but it's more likely than the complete loss of the Camaro. That was more than enough motivation for me to order mine

Everyone please stop worrying about GM filing Chapter 11. I just got a call from someone who was all in a panic that since nobody had their camaros yet, GM must be preparing to crush them all so they can get the government cash (apparently building camaros are of poor image in this economy).

Think of the bigger picture and ask yourself what would you do with a company that made 10 million cars last year after it filed Chapter 11? It's a pretty stupid business decision to stop everything don't you think?
